You might want to add one more option to "Overclocking Utility". I'm overclocking using only BIOS settings... no utilities.

CPU : 3200+, .09
MB : ASUS, A8N-SLI, 1.02, BIOS 1003.005
Ram : PQI, 2.5-3-3-7 (@500MHz) PC4000
HDD : WD 200GB PATA
VIDCARD : XFX, GeForce 6600GT, 600/1200 OC
Voltage : CPU = 1.525V, Mem = 2.7V
HTT : 250x4
Cooler used : Zalman 7000A-AlCu

I have the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra, and I was (finally) able to get my A64 3000+ up to 3.4 this morning (for a little while -- I had not done benchmarks or burn in, so I did not want to leave it there). It seems to be a good overclocker once you figure out the "secret" -- drop the HTT multiplier as you overclock. I posted a detailed thread here on my OC with this board http://forums.anandtech.com/me...4167&enterthread=y

THis is the first A64 I have OC'd -- everything I did this with before this was a P4 -- easy to do, just play with the FSB as you go essentially. I wonder if others missed this too though, since almost everyone reports that they cannot get past 220, which is where I stuck until I dropped the HTT multi.

Ah that would explain it. Yeah, it's commonly known that once you hit the limit on the FSB, you can drop the HTT a notch and go up some more. Then down to 3X if you want, although most chips will hit their limit while you're still at the 4X multi, and going lower won't help enough to be worth it.

I myself plan to overclock my A64 3000+ Winchester in the A8N-SLI I have coming. My initial goal is just to get it to 3500+ speeds, which is 2.2Ghz. Seeing as how people are reporting stable OCs to 2.4 Ghz on stock air and 2.6 Ghz with aftermarket air, I'm fairly confident I'll be able to do 2.2 on the stock cooler (soon to be replaced with a Zalman 7000Al).

DAMN! That means that I already have my A64 3000+ 1.8 running at 3500 speeds! Sweet! Depending on how it goes, I may go further, or stop here.

I wanted a 3500+ but just didn't have the money...which is why I went for the next best thing, the A64 Winchester which almost always hits those speeds.
