As a lot of us are waiting on the nForce 590 chipset for use with the Conroe processors, I thought it might be useful to share any info available in a central resource.

I noticed today on Asus' Global Website a dead link to a nForce 590 Intel Motherboard. Hopefully this means that there will soon be a production model.:brokenheart:

Great, the link is now live. We are getting somewhere. That is the board I was waiting for. I was hoping for a DH Remote with it but c'est la vie. Hopefully it is in completed and will release soon after the NDA expires. BTW does anyone know when this latest NDA is due to expire besides the general around-the-end-of-the-month?

The Asus P5N32-SLI Premium/WiFi-AP doesn't look like it is going to be much cheaper than the Intel boards. Hopefully there will be more options sooner rather than later.

If the 570 is $140, then the 590 will be around $200 or lower. That's cheaper than the Intel boards with equivalent features (and Intel doesn't do SLI/Xfire).

Just wondering why everyone is waiting for the 590? Is it beacuse of the sli or are there performance difference between the 590 and say asus p5w, or intel 975 badaxe?

The 2 X 16X PCI-E is the main reason but if I didn't have to already wait for my E6600 I would have purchased a P5W DH.

On the asus site it says that the mb is QUAD-SLI ready...does that mean they are finally making it so an enduser can sli two 7950gx2's for quad power or is it just a marketing ploy?

Since I got quad sli to work on the asus p5n32-sli se nforce4 board I would think their statement about the 590 board being quad sli ready is truthful.

There are boards that already support quad SLI. Head over to Nvidia's website and see the list of boards that have quad SLI support.

A "pure" PCI-Express machine would have no vintage PCI slots whatsoever:
along these lines, use Google http://www.google.com to search for:

"ASUS P5W64 WS PRO"

This recently designed board has 4 x16 slots.

The NVIDIA 590 chipset supports a larger number of PCI-Express lanes,
and the P5N32-SLI Premium has increased the number of x16 slots to 3,
which is consistent with this trend towards eliminating vintage PCI slots altogether.

Thus, the latter board will allow 2 graphics cards in SLI mode
plus an x8 PCI-Express RAID adapter as well.

Both boards still have PCI slots, however.

p.s. I'm hardly an expert on PCI-Express;
just a dedicated enthusiast who needs
computers in my work.

I never said that. LOL .... Unless they change it again (it has several times) the NDA will expire on the last day of August now.

Is there any advantages the P5N32 premium has over current boards that support conroe other than X16 SLI and OCing?

If im running a single 7950GT and i am not an overclocker is tehre any real need for me to get a p5N32 premium? or should i get somthing along the lines of the P5N 570? or even a gigabyte d3??

so prettty much are u all waiting for the 590 chipset purely for SLI and OCing advantages? Or are tehre other reasons aswell?

"NVIDIA recently issued an announcement to motherboard companies saying that the C19 chipset will be phased out very soon and replaced by the newer and more refined C55 chipset in October. The C19 chipset maxes out at around 350MHz FSB...."

guess what: That's the reason for the delays on the 590 SLI boards - it'll take a couple more months for these boards to be available to everyone. I'm not gonna wait any longer, decided to buy a Bad Axe for my Conroe. With proper cooling the 975X does 500 MHz on the FSB, if one really needs SLI the 570 is the only choice right now.
