nforce only for nvidia cards?

ok jsut wondering if you guys can help me out with a few questions.

1.is the nforce chipset jsut for nvidia cards? is there really a difference between chipsets performance wise?

2. i been reading alot of people having problems with 90nm processors and the motherboard.
whats the deal with that?

and what motherboard would you reccomend for a 90nm 3500+? thanks

no its not just for nvidia chipsets... hmm nvidia is better than the rest IMO.

No, nV chipset is just for AMD CPUs, any kind of graphics card will work fine. People are just buying nV video cards right now because they outperform ATI this year (just like ATI was better last year).

If you type "90" or "winchester" into search you can find out the deal with that.

I saw a pic of an ATI chipset motherboard, it looked like a giant Radeon. I can't wait to see how it turns out in the real world.

ATI's Intel chipsets have been less than stellar, I wouldn't expect miracles for their Athlon 64 chipset.

Both run on an nForce chipset, it's just supposed that the nForce could have certain optimizations to get a tiny increase in performance on an nVidia card versus other chipsets. On the K8 platform, there really isn't too much performance difference between chipsets thanks to the memory controller being on the processor, so the contest is mainly on features.

The 90nm issue: Motherboards won't POST if they don't have a BIOS to detect 90nm procs. They need to be preflashed with a BIOS to support this--if you can't POST, you can't do a thing.

No

ATI is not at a disadvantage on an nForce chipset mobo.

nVidia cards run the same whether on an nVidia chipset mobo or other, like VIA.

It's a non-issue.

Yes, VIA makes chipsets for AMD. What he is saying is that nForce chipsets are only for AMD. In other words, you can't use an Intel on nForce chipset mobo's
