nforce sound problem

I have newest nforce drivers and newest ac97 drivers but for some reason my sound is muffled. Like music and games is muffled too, it doesnt sound clear..
Any Suggestions?

Try nVidia's "nVswap" utility from here and see if that helps. If that's not helping, give us some details on what mobo and speakers you've got

i have gigabte GA-7N400-L and AC97 audio

Ok hmm, is there an nVidia audio applet in your Control Panel? Usually it has a green nVidia logo for an icon. You might try running the Speaker Setup Wizard in there next, if that's present.

no there is just realtek sound manager and nvidia display manager

What's your speaker layout like, just left + right, or L + R + subwoofer, or what?

I'll get back with you on this after I get the manual downloaded and see what I can figure out. I'm on dial-up so this can take a while sometimes... may be tomorrow.

EDIT: actually, what do you know, the 7N400 Pro 2 seems to share the same manual, so here we go: look at page 22 of the manual and it shows the back panel and suggests some stuff. Looks like they want the sub plugged into the bottom jack and the L/R speakers into the middle jack, and they refer us on to page 79 for how to set the jacks to match the functions of the speakers.

Actually, look at page 78 instead. That covers 2-channel, and then I presume you just plug the subwoofer into the bottom jack. The photos aren't good enough for me to make out what those Windows panels say, but I'm guessing you can spec the jacks as you desire. If you don't have the little utility launcher they're illustrating, maybe uninstall the latest nForce drivers and feed it the drivers off the mobo CD to see if that gets it on the right track. the drivers on the cd had a problem with safedisc and some of my games would not work. My speaker set up plugs into one jack cuz the sub and the 2 speakers hook up together. I dont know what could have happend but the other day i was fooling around with frs radios and when i would talk the speakers gave wierd feedback i didt think anything off it. Could this have screwed them up?

I'd uninstall the realtek A3.55's and reinstall them and see if it clears up.
