Nforce2 Dual Lan question

Might sound stupid but what is the main point in having dual lan integrated on this motherboard? If your on a router can your computer accept two IP's giving your computer more bandwith? Speed probably wouldn't change but what about bandwith?

Or would one be designated for internet while the other is for lan?

The main purpose that I've been able to figure out is so your computer can act as a router. Set up ICS in Windows XP and it'll share your connection from one ethernet port to the other one.

Well the biggest gain you can see is that Nivida is trying to push their chipsets into the business world. So they put on their ethernet chip, a very good one, and one from 3com, as 3com has a very good name in the business world so IS people are more likely to use a nForce2 board if it has a name they are use to.

I think when Anandtech.com toke a look at the nForce2 board the Nivida ethernet was a little better, but again its all about the name game and reliability.
