nForce2 PCI frequency...

Does the PCI frequency change with AGP or is it locked on nforce2 motherobards?

I assume the PCI/AGP would change with changes in the FSB but that can be locked i think i heard from someone....not sure though.

Usually, the AGP and PCI clocks go hand in hand so any increase in the PCI clock would also increase the AGP. If the motherboard has an AGP or PCI lock , it could mean that both are locked.

Nforce has an AGP lock I believe. and if the PCI frequency runs in spec with the AGP frequency, then I suppose that means its not going anywhere.

Question: Why can you lock the AGP speed at 100? what purpose does that serve

At least for the Asus nForce2 board, the AGP frequency is totally independant of the FSB. That is, you can set it to many values, 33MHz to 100MHz and small increments in between. The PCI is automatically adjusted to a safe frequency. The PCI bus never goes any higher than 34MHz, no matter how high one sets the FSB.

Indeed. I am planning a AMD 2400+/Asus Nforce2 upgrade soon and will overclock it as far as it can go!!!

well a faster agp bus i would assume work almost like a faster cpu bus?
increased performance?

maybe a 3dmark will answer that question
(on the p4 boards, those of which already allow the locking of pci/agp bus, maybe someone can test if there is a performace gain or not when they lock the agp at higher bus's)
