Hi,
I just recently got a GA-K8NXP-9 motherboard, and the chipset fan is incredibly annoying on it. I know that it is the only component making any audible noise on it, because I have a Zalman 7700 Cu cooler running on 5V mode, a 400W Akasa PSU with a 120mm fan, and a Zalman fanless heatsink on my graphics card.
The problem is, the chip is placed below the 16x PCI-E slot, meaning I can't use any of the normal Zalman fan-less heatsinks, which are far too tall. Is there any solution for this? Is it safe just to put a short heatsink on it? I see that the SLI edition of this motherboard doesn't have a cooler on the chipset.
Thanks.
