Using 6.70 right now, just loaded it minus NAM. Seems OK.

Edited to say: AHHHHHHH! My PC just melted into a puddle of molten metal of goo on the floor after about two hours of running these new drivers!!!!!

Just kidding....

I loaded 6.70 right over 6.66 and no issues yet still. I have been surfing, played Far Cry, and burned a CD-R. I am using the SW IDE driver, as well.

What is 6.82 for? It seems to be labed nForce4 x16, but without the "amd". It was uploaded at 2:00pm, where 6.70 was uploaded around 8:00am. Hmm. Not sure I want to try 6.82.

I see nVidia justed updated thier site for 6.82. The 6.82 driver appears to be for either the AMD or Intel x16 chipset implementation. So....no one else is trying 6.70? Chickens.

Are you using the latest BIOS on your mobo? I understand that ASUS has released some BIOS's lately that apparently do not work and play well with the later nForce drivers.

The way I look at it....if it ain't broken don't fix it. My computer doesn't have the latest bios or nforce4 drivers, but the thing is rock solid. I refuse to update those drivers until the next format. I've had too many problems with updating nvidia drivers in the past.

i tried installing them again and the comp froze, tried to unistall and then could not boot, had to use recovery console and boot then get my files and now reinstalling windows. do you think i should try using them now that i did a fresh install or just use the old ones. capt caveman's results seem encourageing, did you install all files or did you leave some out?

I installed everything but the audio drivers and firewall/active armor. That sucks that you have to do a reinstall.

I kept all the components aside from the SMBus driver; it didn't identify the components of my EVGA NF4 SLI properly. I rolled back to the 4.45 SMBus.

Did install 6.70 over 6.66 and things still work. But I am not certain that it actually installed. I use RAID on the nvidia, but have nvidia LAN disable on my A8N-SLI DLX.
Driver version on the "nvidia nForce4 Parallel ATA Controller" is 5.10.2600.534 (nvata.sys)

As soon as I installed this I got BSODs....took me forever to clean up the crap. Might be due to NAM though, I foolishly installed it....I wish they'd just remove it from their drivers.

It was the NAM, I'm gonna try the 6.53 on DFI's site and see how those work.

From past BSOD, I follow:

1. Create New Restore Point
2. Control Panel->Remove Programs->Uninstall all Nvidia Drivers
3. Reboot
4. Run Driver Cleaner Pro(can download for free)->Remove all Nvidia Drivers
5. Reboot
6. Install new Nvidia Drivers

should i unstall the NAM too, that is separate from the nvidia drivers? also, should i just choose all nvidia filters with driver cleaner pro?

Did you uninstall your previous drivers first or did you just install these over the previous drivers? Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind.

Hi,

I'm soon to put my new system together with an Asus A8N SLI Premium. What are the 6.82 drivers? Should I install those, or the 6.70's (and I should avoid installing the Firewall, Active Armour and IDE drivers right?) .

You should use the 6.70 drivers. The 6.82 are for the x16 chipset. You should NOT install NAM under any circumstances. The IDE SW driver has NEVER caused me any problems, so I would go ahead and install that, too. Generally speaking, you will install the Ethernet, SMBUS, and IDE Drivers. You won't need to install the audio ones if you have a PCI sound card.
