Bruins looked like the team i expected tonight.
So assuming Atlanta moves to Winnipeg, how much would Buttman jizz in his pants at the opportunity to put Pittsburgh and Washington in the same division?

Are you saying they would swap Pittsburgh and Atlanta? That would piss me off. I like the division just the way it is.

Some division realignment would be required to fit Detroit into the east. Geographically (ignoring rivalries) it could be Detroit in the northeast, Boston in the Atlantic, Pittsburgh in the southeast. Detroit would probably love to play in the "easier" eastern conference and not have to travel so far.
As close at Detroit is to TO, I doubt the wanna break up the MTL/TO/Boston combination in the NE division for historical reasons.
Columbus makes the most sense to move over
Yeah, Buffalo would work too but would make less sense geographically. Of course moving Detroit wouldn't really be about doing what makes the most sense geographically.
I actually thought it would make the least sense of the three options. If you're going to put them into the southeast, Nashville makes more sense because it's closer. Putting them in the Atlantic or northeast doesn't make any sense, because one of the Atlantic teams would end up in the southeast division and none of them make more sense in the southeast than Columbus (and then you're back to Nashville being closer).
Toronto should be in its own division just so the team can make playoff

How awesome for historical purposes would a division of Detroit, MTL, BOS, NY and Toronto be?
Because of Ottawa/TO rivalry and how close Ottawa/Buf are to Toronto it will never happen, and as a Leafs fan I don't want Detroit anywhere near our division, But it's not like the above teams aren't geographically close enough to form a division.

I doubt the NHL would split up the Chi-Det rivalry. It's instant sell-out everytime they play. It will be interesting to see how they adjust everything though.
