NHL Predictions for the Stanley Cup First Round?

What're are your predictions for the first round of the playoffs, and most importantly, why?

After last year's first round, I swore off predictions for this year.

Some good matchups there...

My picks:
TB (I laugh at the Isles)
BOS (lots of weapons)
NJ (tough one... Jersey plays a better team game)
OTT (semi-biased, but it is a toss-up - depends if Ottawa can pull it together)
DET (no brainer)
SJ (holy hell where'd they come from?)
VAN (Calgary isn't going anywhere)
COL (Aebischer is the ? of course)

Bah...their predictions SUCK! Especially McKenzie's....lol. I love how the B's wrap up the 2nd seed in the East by beating NJ @ their own game in Jersey the last game of the season, and they drop us to 11th on the rankings? And no matter how bad Ottawa plays, they will always be in the top three.


Anyhow, here are my predictions...

EAST

Tampa over the Isles in 6 games

Although I think the Isles have one of the best chances @ pulling a 1st round upset considering their regular season against Tampa. This is Tampa series to lose.

Boston over Montreal in 7 games

All the games between these teams have been low scoring, and decided by a goal.

NJ over Philly in 5 games

I'm just going with my gut on this. Playoffs is when the Devils thrive and they have Rafalski back.

Toronto over Ottawa in 7 games

This series will be super intense, but I just don't see Ottawa beating their old nemesis. It's a pity. Ottawa prolly would have advanced against any other opponent.


WEST

Detroit over Nashville in 6 games

I think the wings will have more trouble with this team than people think.

San Jose over St. Louis in 6 games

Haven't really followed either team, but San Jose seems to be the better team.

Dallas over Colorado in 7 games

Should be a great series, but I just think Dallas is the better team right now.

Vancouver over Calagary in 6 games

Going with my gut on this one.

Fixed. It'd be nice if someone knocked out Detroit again but alas, that seems highly unlikely. Detroit seems like a very heavy favorite and the only team I fear.

Of course those are fairly unsubstantiated predictions except the TO/Ottawa series, since ottawa can't seem to win a series against Toronto, but hey, it might be their turn.

Okay here are mine:
West:

Detroit over Nashville in 4: it is quite obvious for a team with Bret Hull in the 4th line to beat a 6th yr team making the playoffs the first time. Not to forget Manny Legace is a back up golie and is great

San Jose over St Louis in 7: It's all about home advantage. They both have a great run towards the end, but on game 7, it is the home field advantage.

Calgary over Vancouver in 7. Vancouver is a great team, but without Bertuzzi, it is hadicapped. Nashlund will have a tough time getting the puck without Bertuzzi. For, Calgary, Jerome Iginla is the 2nd highest scorer in the league, the team is one of youngest with a great speed. They haven't been in the playoffs for a while, so they are heating it up.

Colorado over Dallas in 7: Again it comes to home advantage. but colorado is not doing well at home, but it is the playoffs. Colorado defense is too deep, and the offense is unbelievable. However, Dallas's Goalie and coaching is extremely good. but history, cololrado never won against dallas in the playoffs.

East:

Canadiens over the Bruins in 6: Nothing will get past Jose
Tampa over Isles by 4: Tampa's too fast, lightening fast
Ottawa over Toronto by 4: Ottawa was thought to have won the Stanley cup before the season began
Devils over the Flyers in 4 in 3OT with all four games in OT: The best of the playoffs. It's Martin that is going to make the difference.

West:
Detroit in 6, the Preds will give 'em a good fight but they don't have what it takes.
Sharks in 5, I don't think the Blues can take 'em.
Flames in 7, no Bertuzzi + a hungry Calgary team = 1 round and out for the Canucks.
Avs in 7, the coming of the playoffs will finally light a fire under their underachieving asses.

East:
Lightning in 5 if they can live up to expectations.
Sens, in 6, if they can keep it together or Belfour's back goes out.
B's in 7, the Habs will give 'em a good fight.
Devils over Flyers in 6, the Devils are too solid a team and Desjardins is out for the playoffs.
