My file server board fried (933mhz P3's X2) but taking nothing with it which is nice. I had a spare Premio 212B P2 board with a 333mhz processor I decided to stick in the server case to keep it running until I can get enough together to start another rig.
Here?s the problem. I can?t get ANY NIC card to work. I started out with the NIC cards out of the original server (2), tried both. They installed fine in windows 2K pro but acted like they weren't connected in windows (the lil ?unplugged" icon in the taskbar). A look at the cards themselves shows no activity lights like they aren't plugged in. The cards worked fine in another system. I tried this with all 5 of my NIC cards of different models from Linksys and 3Com. I tried switching PCI slots (3 avail) with the same results. The slots do work as I moved my IDE/1394/USB2 card and a SB sound card around to check the slots without any problems. So in conclusion there are no activity lights or signs of connectivity but the cards installed in windows just fine with no IRQ conflicts or other resource conflicts. I flashed the BIOS on the board to the newest version and cleared CMOS more than once with no change. Also I tried different CAT5/6 cables with no results. I did reinstall the OS twice and uninstalled all the NICs before trying them again.
Until these lil NIC cards get working, I'm stuck. Any Ideas?
