When you say "NIC Interface Card" you are actually saying "Network Interface Card Interface Card".

No more in Charlotte. I just checked today, and they were 24.99 - 10 mail-in rebate = 14.99.

BTW, it's a Linksys card. It was a great deal for 4.99

"NT" stands for "new technology." So "built on NT technology" expanded is "built on new technology technology."

void main()
{
double NIC=4.99;
double CheapNIC;
if(NIC<25.00) NIC=CheapNIC;

while(1)
{
CheapNIC == Suck;
}
}

Windows NT (WNT) came from increasing each letter in VMS by 1. VMS->WNT.

<< Irregardless, I could care less. >>

Hmmmm.... with regard to means "to consider", regardless means "without consideration for", irregardless means nothing because it isn't a real word...but if it was, it would mean "NOT without consideration for"... something that is "NOT without" is the same as something with... i.e., if irregardless was actually a word, it would mean "regarding" which is exactly the OPPOSITE of how all the people who use this made up word use it!

Irregardless the title of the thread, it's a NIC, not a NIC interface card!

Looks like a bunch of folks here at Anandtech work for the Department of Redundancy Department.

Hey, Netopia--

You forgot to mention that the 'correct' usage of the phrase "I could care less" should be "I COULDN'T care less", because to imply that one COULD care less means that they do indeed care, in contrast to someone who COULDN'T care less, because he (or she) then cares so little that it is not possible to care less.

I agree that some prior posts have said the same things twice as well as been redundant.
As regards Cheapo NIC cards...I love them and have had great luck with Sohoware,Realtek and others. (none of my 5 network cards cost over $15 and only once had a conflict between Cable NIC and my Hub NIC that resolved with shuffling to a different one)

import java.NIC.*;

public class CheapNIC extends ComputerBudget{

try
{
CheapNIC(<$25)
}

catch( NICException e )
{
getRegularNIC
}
}

The Reason that the NIC's suck is that their chipsets are bad (especially RealTek), they use more cpu cycles. For an extra $10 you can get a NIC that will work twice as well i.e, the inexpensive Netgear 310. Nice Java btw.

from the lastest version of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:
apparently "irregardless" IS a word.

"Main Entry: ir·re·gard·less
Pronunciation: "ir-i-'gärd-l&s
Function: adverb
Etymology: probably blend of irrespective and regardless
Date: circa 1912
nonstandard : REGARDLESS
usage Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose. Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead."

-sorry to get so off topic, but our american way of life was at stake here.
