Are you saying it's a false statement that a white girl wouldn't get different treatment? Have you ever seen a white tennis player being booed for being white?

When is the last time you saw a black tennis player booed for being black?

And how did you know it was for him/her being black and not some other reason?

anyone who actually follows tennis knows what an idiot this guy is

seems like every famous female tennis player has an absurd father in one way or another.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. I play them every week. Haven't won yet.
You should never play those numbers, ever. They are the most popular numbers chosen, and if you win you will have to split the pot with multiple people. The pot with the largest number of winners was with those numbers.

You should always let the computer choose the numbers for you. In some jurisdictions it will only pick numbers that haven't been chosen already, making it much more likely that you will get the entire pot to yourself if you win.

Have you seen their portrayal in the media and the comments about the sisters on this forum? People are always calling them manly, beasts, etc. That was the only picture of them until I saw an interview with Serena on CNNI.

some people might have, but some people are dumb. Serena was on the cover of a few swimsuit mags and had sexy lay outs in them. Aside from being usually tall and way too buff for a chick, she has a huge ass and big breasts - not very manly or beastly features to me *shrug* If that was the only picture you saw of her it was because you didn't look.

I've never seen anyone at a tennis match being booed because I don't watch tennis. I'm going by what the father says. Is there any reason to believe his daughter didn't get booed for being black?

I have written at least four different responses to your post, and none of them really can express how I feel as I do not like being terribly rude or excessively personally insulting on ATOT. So I will say nothing at all (except bolding the above text) and hope that someone else can pick up the baton and say it for me.

okay, so i had to do some googling b4 posting my $.02 about this. from various sources like:

http://orvillelloyddouglas.wor...of-indian-wells-event/
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c...ericsson_open_ap/#null
http://answers.yahoo.com/quest...=20080127215917AAbcki5
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/f...F93BA25750C0A9679C8B63

the fact is Serena was booed. i don't keep up with the Williams sisters or womens tennis to know if their father does *scheme* which daughter play certain opponents, but i would think a WTA doctor would have to in fact rule a player (Venus) is injured before the match. so whether or not the crowd didn't "believe" the injury, the boos were certainly uncalled for. when i used to watch tennis, the referee would say "quiet please", so was this somehow not done at Indian Wells back in 2001? and if the boos continued, wouldn't it have been the referee's duty to stop the match?

so fast fast-forward to now, some 7 years later, and Richard Williams has to stoop so low and say some crud about the 2 women *founders*, that too is uncalled for. what happened back in 2001 was unfortunate and the match probably should have been stopped from play. sad to say this, but Richard's recent statements almost validates the boos from back then.

big shock its him. he has made racist comments before.

one reason people boo them is the williams sisters have a bad attitude and are dominating. they put down many other famale players and rarely give respect where it is due.

they are amazing players. defentaly the top 2 female players EVER. but they have not done as much for the sport as there father thinks and are not loved (no race is not why).

and yes i do think they are fugly.

Not a chance? Nobody knows 100% why they were boo'ed, the bottom line is they were boo'ed, and seeing how that's never happened to a white tennis player there. I would say their assumption is fairly reasonable, and there is no "boy who cried wolf" effect here. Something did happen and they spoke out on it. I couldn't tell you why they were boo'ed myself, but it does seem a tad bit usual to say the least.

Has a white player ever pulled out of a match against her sister before? Has a white player advanced to the finals because her sister pulled out before?

Why is the assumption it is because they are black and not because people do not like the sisters seemingly trading injuries at each tournament (a perception that may not be supported by facts, but the perception nonetheless)? Because if you are black, the first thing you think of is racism and not any other possible explanation = the boy who cried wolf.

well, some of the articles did state that racial slurs were indeed blurted out by fans. so ur whole "not a chance" is really a bit naive.

in my book, boos (apparently during & after the match) PLUS racial slurs = racism

only boos = maybe fans were angry that Venus was pulled from playing? *shrug*. but c'mon this is tennis, historically a sport played and attended by upper-crust families. when i used to watch on TV, noise was kept to a minimum by the referee.

i tried to find a video clip of the event. i'm still wondering WTH the referee thinking by allowing the match to continue.

here's my thinking = leave fuckin race out of shit. if the racial slurs weren't said back in 2001, the referee could have possibly stopped the boos by saying the match would be stopped from play if it continued.....and Richard Williams shouldn't have said what he said.
