Just called mwave customer service. The girl knew the deal I was talking about and said that the rebate form should be posted by the end of the week. Maybe as soon as tomorrow.

I liked the instant rebate from 2 days ago alot better. I wonder if I could use the rebate for the purchase, or whether it's going to indicate that the instant rebate has been applied.....

Just wondering

Rebate form does not say any additional purchases are needed. The board is available elsewhere on the website for $50-10 instant discount + Shipping ($48.11 for me). So can we make money to take the board (after rebate)?

Based on the rebate form in hand and the order date on my original mwave invoice I paid $81 plus shipping, and am qualified for the $50 rebate.
It looks like they overlapped the rebate dates.
We will see when it gets here finally.
Now I'll put the $10 120GB hard drive, the $40 +/- LiteOn DVD writer, the free case and my $30 AXP 2600 together for a BARGAIN system.
Love those double overlapping rebates!!

:disgust: No double rebate for me.
I ordered mine on 3/20/04.
The MIR is for 3/22/04 and 4/22/04.

Oh well maybe some of you will get it.

So, is the mobo from mwave retail boxed? The one from Newegg says it is.
I'm thinking no.

Could just get it from Newegg and still get the rebate ???
EDIT: I stand corrected. The rebate form states that it is only valid at mwave.

mobo's are either retail or refurb, no OEM's when it comes to boards AFAIK

I bought mine online on 3/22/04 for the 2600. Shipped 3-day was about $96. Too bad I can't use the extra rebate though since rebate will not exceed purchase price.

So if you did get it on 3/22/04 with the instant rebate you can't get the additional Soyo rebate.

You don't. If you purchased this over the weekend for ~$100 the MB was "free". The title of this thread is "...some XP cpu's w/ free soyo board" means if you purchase an AMD Athlon XP CPU you got the motherboard free. The MB sells for ~$50, cpu~$100=$150, but you only had to pay $100, so free MB. Or buy now and use the MIR to get the MB for "free".

Why not? My invoice says "SOYO K7VME BUNDLE W/ COOLING FAN & (AMD XP 2800+(333Mhz); NO MEMORY; NO TESTING"

and has one price for the bundle.

I think it is surely worth a try ($0.37)

FWIW. I received my order this afternoon. Order consisted of Soyo Motherboard (Retail Box). MWaves Bundled CPU Cooling fan ( SPREEZE 5R265B1H3G ) $8.00 their Website appears to be a 60mm? fan on the heatsink.
AMD XP 2600+ is (OEM) not a Retail. Some were inquiring....
Mine reads as follows; AXDA2600DKV3D 9120755120456 AIUCB 0331SPAW 1999AMD. Looks as though these may have been sitting aound somewhere? If 1999 is any indication of the year they were produced? any thoughts on this?
Extremely fast delivery. Granted I'm in N.CA. and this is coming out of Walnut CA. (So.CA.?). I ordered around 6 A.M. on the 22nd & received my order on the 24th around 4 P.M.. Shades of NewEgg.
I also grabbed a couple of SONY 1.44 (Black) Floppy drives (refurbs) for $3.90 each. S/H was $12.00 / $7.30 in tax. Order came to $108. and change.
I hope this helps anyone else interested in what they might be gettin'.

The 2600+ came out in September 2002. Back then they were $297 in 1,000-unit quantities. This is according to my old PCMag dated Otc. 15, 2002. I found it by accident.
Walnut is East of LA.

Here is what I just received:

AXDA2600DK3VD
AIUCB 0351SPAW

AXDA means AMD Athlon XP 0.13 micron

DKV3D spelled out

D = Package type = Organic Pin Grid Array (OPGA)
K = operating voltage = 1.65 volts
V = maximum die temperature = 85 degrees celsius
3 = Level 2 Cache size = 256 KB
D = maximum system-bus speed = 333 mhz

This is not a Barton, a Barton would be like "DKV4D", the number 4
in the fourth position indicating 512KB level 2 cache. This cpu will
run at a FSB of 166, with a multiplier of 12.5, yielding a speed
of 2083 mhz.

This exact same cpu on NewEgg is selling for $84 for the bare cpu.

Oh, and the "0351SPAW", the 03 means 2003, and "51" means the week number within the year.

yup, these are definitely not bartons... i should have sprung for the 2800, oh well. i installed the 2600 on my main comp and modeslty bumped the fsb to 175 mhz, it's running at 2.19 ghz right now. anyone know how well these overclock?

or if anyone is interested, i might sell the cpu to buy a mobile 2400.

The Tbred 2600+ 333fsb should be on par with the Barton 2600+... The cache on the Tbred is smaller but the clockspeed is higher. The difference should not be signifigant... I think the Barton overclocks better though.

I finally got my shipment. I ordered the MB + XP2600 + 128MB RAM.

First off, when I hook up the HSF to the FAN1 hook-up that is next to the ATX hook-up, the fan doesn't turn on. I have to use the fan hook-up that is on the other side of the board that is for the Chasis...so when I do that, the fan turns on but I don't get boot-up screen. I have tried putting in my spare stick of ram that is an Infineon 2100, but is 133 CL2. It won't boot up with that one either.

Anybody else haveing problems getting the board and cpu and ram working?

PS, the 128 stick of ram that I order from them is the 266 DDR

Thanks,
Martin

No problems here - everything is working fine.
Your fan issue is suspect though especially since the board won't turn on if it doesn't sense a fan attached to the CPU (via the CPU fan plug). The manual specifies that the system will beep and then shut down after only a couple seconds. Check connections and maybe even try a different fan.
Good luck!

No, No, you don't understand, everything IS NOT WORKING fine
I"m assuming you were being facetious with that statement.

I took the fan off of one of my other working systems. I tried a different CPU from a different system, still no go. I tried clearing out the BIOS. I tried a different PSU, 2 different ones actually, no go.
If I put a 1Gig Athlon in there, it should down-shift and recognize it as such, right?
Even if the settings on the RAM are for 133, or 166, it should down-shift, am I correct?

Thanks,
Martin

Thanks everyone.
Just received my Athlon 2800+ ad SOYO m/b.
Confirmed that it s a Barton, model AXDA2800KV4D.

BTW, anyone tried to send in for the $50 rebate to take advantage of the overlap in dates? I bought mine on 3/23
