I called Mwave and they said they would send me another one.
The exchange cpu has chips all around the core, the pins look a little also.
I should have kept the first one.

The mobo and extra fans I ordered from Mwave work great!!

Thanks.

that's crap, mwave has lost a lot of respect lately with the stories I've heard. 2 chipped cpu cores!?! wtf even fry's gives prestine oem cpu's.

I would complain that the second one you got is even worse and see what or if they offer you someting else. this would also need to be brought up on a reseller rating if it were me.

I just called them and they were happy to replace this one also.
I will put a note in the return box asking them to check the core.

Just sent the motherboard back after the video seemed to not be working...
It was powering up and all, but nothing coming up on screen...
the 2600 was fine, tried it in another machine
hopefully the replacement mobo works

My cpu wasn't chipped but it had bent pins and wouldn't work. Sent it back today, had no problems with their customer service (unlike other people I've heard). I however will be pissed if they ship the new one to me in a pouch like the old one.

The one I got with my board was also sent in a pouch which I considered a bit awkward. the pins were not bent and the core was fine, but the MB didn't fire up like some others have complained. I put it in one of my other boards and it booted up fine, but I RMA'd the MB and waiting for the new one. The customer service was nice so no qualms there.

Just got mine.

The CPU was shipped rubberbanded to a piece of high density foam in an anti-static bag. It was in good condition even though the packaging was weak.

The board was new and sealed.

It came with a Speeze cooler that Newegg sells for $12 shipped (8 + 4 shipping)

It POSTed immediately and I'm loading the OS right now.

So, from Newegg, it would have been $86 for Thoroughbred B 2600+, $12 for the cooler and $56 for the board. $154

This was $146 including FedEX shipping.

The real test will be if the rebate arrives.

Got mine today. It was a great replacement for the HP 503n Intel motherboard (Had a celeron 1.7 in it, yuck). It fit perfectly. Gonna be my Gentoo machine.

i got my combo today

i bought a xp2600+ cpu and the soyo mobo

i bought the 15dollar ebuyer case with the 300w psu

do i need the p4 connector to get it to work?

when i connect the p4 connector to the motherboard the psu fan wouldnt run

if i dont connect the p4 connector into the board, the psu fan powers up but the cpu fan wont power up

what am i doing wrong?

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. It sounds like that cheap PSU might be too weak or simply bad. Do you have another PSU to try?

Well, I got my RMA'd board over the weekend. I got a new power supply that has the P4 connector. I hooked everthing up...the AMD XP2600+, fan, PC2100 memory and it won't boot. The same problem as the last MB, the CPU fan won't run, but the chasis fan will, so I can hook up the CPU fan to the chasis header so that it'll work but MB still won't boot up.

The chip is a 333 chip, and I'm using 133 memory...would that be a problem or would it throttle down? I have changed the FS jumper to 100, 133 and 166 and no difference. I have also tried a good stick of infineon 133 memory it's also PC2100, but it still won't boot. Any ideas?

*sigh*
All I had to do was hold down the insert key and it boots up fine. It only recognizes the CPU as a XP2000+ but that's no biggie. I'll get some cheap PC2700 ram later.

Ok I know what im doing but at the same time I dont. Up until this point ive been a Pentium man and I dont mind changing to the dark side. But what I really wanna know is, how the 3000+ XP would stack up against my P4 2.4 that runs at 2.6? Also could someone tell me (A. what is the speed of the 3000+XP?) and (B. how overclockable is the 3000+XP?) I want a fairly good and much more portable gaming machine, and if anyone could spare me the research it would be extremely apreciated.

I got mine yesterday, I paid the extra for test and assembly (2800+)
board requires the P4 connect (4 pin plug). I had a little problem with the board's install disc, but works fine.

Now we'll see about Soyo's rebate.

by the sounds of the fooked up OEM processors people have been getting from mwave, i would think twice. chipped cores, bent prongs and just plain dead cpu's have been delivered.
