Nigerian prince requires immediate assistance with printer sharing!

Sorry to post in GH, but I realize there's more traffic here.

I have 2 computers, and 1 printer. The printer (HP Deskjet 5150) is plugged in via USB on my PC (running Windows XP Pro SP1).

I have a PowerBook G4 running 10.3.3. The PC is plugged into my network via ethernet. The Mac is on the network via wireless.

Is there any way of sharing the printer from my PC, so I can essentially print wirelessly to it?

I am not totally familiar w/ OS X but I know that it has been updated and works well with windows file shares. I would assume that they have a similar thing to be able to connect to windows printer shares. Sorry i can't tell you how to do it, but I would go to a MAC forum and do a search for connecting to a windows printer share...

Edit: To share the printer in windows just go to the Printers folder, right click on the printer and go down to Sharing and in there all the settings you need are present.

Good question! I know nothing about Macs..but I'd imagine they have to run TCP/IP in order to surf the net...so you should be able to communicate b/t the two PCs.

Both the PC and the MAC are plugged into a wireless router/4-port switch dealie, right?

Well, you should be able to go into Printers on your PC, right click, properties, sharing, do a "share printer as" and give it a name...

Both the PC and MAC need to be a member of the same Workgroup in order to share resources. I'm not sure if you can join a MAC to a PC Workgroup.

Create a workgroup on your PC..name it whatever. Make the MAC a member of the same workgroup, then see if you can map to the shared printer via the MAC.

hey, i have 2 pcs and I want to share 1 printer...how would I do that? they're both running windows xp and the printer is connected to 1 via usb...any help greatly appreciated...

You have to go into the printer via control panel on the machine it's connected to. Set it up as shared on the network.
If you are going to print to it from a laptop, and the laptop is running Win98 while the server is running XP, the Win 98 drivers must be enabled on the server PC. Also, both machines must be on. If you use a print/router, the printer drivers must be installed on each machine that will print to it. Whatever is trying to print to it must have this printer installed as default printer in control panel, or you will have to have another one available and switch manually to it. It takes some fidllin' around, but you will find a way. The printer/router (print server) is more dependable by far.

well now i was trying to use the "create a home network wizard" and i ran it on one comp, but i run it on the 2nd comp and under network places, it doesnt show the first comp! i named them the same and all that good stuff, i have both comps connected to a router...sigh, this is just a big headache...
