I used to own one of these. It was a waste of money for me. This is a first generation night vision from the Old Soviet technology. When I tried it in the store, it looks fine under a warehouse condition (SAM'S). It is OK if you want to see if a person is out in the wood under average nightlight. You could not even recognize who that would be from 40 ft away. You see this through an image inside the mono scope. I was planning to use it to see who is in my driveway or looking at the house number in a dark street. Could not accomplish either one of these. It may be cheaper to have a good flashlight. I was very disappointed at the performance. You may actually see something if you have an IR light. Only in movies that night vision images looked so clear. There are occasional nightvision scenes on the Learning Channels or discovery channel, for sure they are not using the first generation technology, nor this monoscope.
This is the lowest price I see on sale though. Having owned one of this before, I would not buy one at any price. Read some other articles on nighvision. I would not buy anything unless it is the third generation nightvision which is priced out of my budget.
