Starting March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection will be freely available to download: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days.

It's an awesome and fun set of plugins. My only worry is that this means they're not planning on updating them.

At a curiosity, how does this compare to using a tool like Lightroom?

I use them as a plug-in for Lightroom.
I do some basic edits in Lightroom ( crop, straighten, lens correction ) then pass the image on to one of the Nik plugins. Then bring it back to LR.
It works really well.

These are actually a collection of supplemental plugins for Adobe photoshop and lightroom that allow you to tweak color, tonality, sharpness etc.

Silver Effex Pro is basically a digital darkroom/ photo lab that allows you to reproduce very realistic-looking black and white prints.

Ok. I just downloaded the collection and installed it without a host application. There are executables that run in standalone mode. :thumbsup:
