Anyone know where to get one new for the lowest price and in stock? Abe's of Main has it for about $117 shipped but none in stock. Seems to be the lowest I can find.

well i did check pricegrabber but they screw up sometimes.

It's the same price on caulmet which i've used several times in the past too. I use them generally because ground shipping only takes 1 day since they have a warehouse in chicago.

Whatever. VR is nice, but it's not a substitute for fast aperture. Good luck with shallow DOF, especially on a crop body. By the time you stop it down to get optimum sharpness, you're at f/6.3 or f/7.1.

yea...speed relates to aperture size....fast = wide = usually 2.8 or larger...

yea...speed relates to aperture size....fast = wide = usually 2.8 or larger...

yes hes right, a "fast lens" is typicially one with a min apature of 2.8 or smaller, a 50mmf/1.2 is a very fast lens

thast being said nikons VR typicvally adds 2 stops so if you meter at 1/60 f/8 you can basicially shoot it at 1/15 f/8 and it wont be blurry

well technicially if you are shooting wide open the shutter speed would be fast, im guessing thats where it originated from but im just kinda guessing
