Nikon DL series still not released....

I pre-ordered the DL2485 from Nikon, which was supposed to be out in the June/July timeframe but it's not out. According to the rep on the phone they still don't have a scheduled release date.

Supposedly the DL's are their "premium compact" cameras. Decent stats, performance yet to be seen, obviously. 24-85mm f/1.8-2.8 w/ macro & 4k video. (also available is an 18-50mm)

Even though my generic travel setup is pared down to 1 DSLR & 2 lenses it's still sometimes demotivating to bring that much kit every time i travel(every other weekish) and i don't get out. Hoping this is good enough to replace it.

Yeah, something smells fishy regarding the DL lineup - they announced in January ? Then delay was announced a couple months later, using the earthquake excuse?

I'm wildly guessing that they were planning on using the latest Sony 1" sensors, and Sony cut off their supply.

The other scuttlebutt is that Sony isn't "releasing" their 42MP sensors to Nikon - Sony wanting to stay a generation ahead in sensor.

I'm making rumors up on the spot !

I didn't pre-order the 24-85, but was really looking forward to it. Now I'm wondering what will see the market first, the LX200 from Panasonic or the Nikon DL options. I guess it is not so bad to keep my money in my pocket a bit longer.
