They really need to make a Fire Emblem game for the DS.

Edit: And another Advance Wars game.

Dual Strike is owning me on the black boat level

That's what, like 11-12ish? Did you read any of the FAQs on GameFAQs? I can PM you the general strategy I used.

I'm a beligerent gamer, I'll hammer it out for now!

PSP and a 2GB Memory Stick FTW.

That's like asking between a 2G iPod and 5G iPod Video.

Except you can play a lot of great songs on the cheaper 2G iPod, and you can only pick from a few mediocre songs for the 5G, and the battery life isn't even half as long on the 5G...

Just upgraded the kids DS's to Lites for their birthdays.

So, now I can mess with one of their DS's with this homebrew stuff. I also may try Panzer Tactics DS when it comes out, looks pretty cool. What is the best kit or gadget to buy for homebrew to try playing some video? I remember reading a review of a kit where somebody played some music videos, but I can't find the link.....

I just picked up a DS Lite the other day, great system for $130.

I noticed this can play GBA games. I missed out on that whole generation, what are the must haves?

DS Lite for playing some fun games in a great system. It is what a portable system should be, and it supports that with games you can pick up and play for a short time.

PSP for.... costing more money.

From someone who has both, here is my opinion:

Nintendo DS Lite:

+Cheaper (the system as well as games)
+Games are more original
+Longer battery life
+Quality first party games
+Great games coming out soon.

-No WPA support

PSP:

+Good games out in the future (Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth a Square-Enix RPG, sequel to Ghouls and Ghosts, FF VII Crisis Core, new Rockstar games, Lumines II)
+Versatile as hell (watch movies, music player)
+Homebrew/emulation community is more mature (NES, SNES, MAME, you name it)
+Beautiful screen, wide screen is great
+WPA support!
+Web browser built in out of the box.
+Sony constantly updates firmware with new features (but this would prevent you from emulation and homebrew).
+Graphics blow away DS, no comparison.

-Expensive (memory stick and system)
-A lot of games are PS port.

At this stage, I would get the DS Lite. It is fun little system, and PSP is collecting some dust. I have had the PSP since launch BTW.

game-wise. especially old school games like mario kart and mario bros. but PSP does have the new FF7CC coming out for it. while DS has the FF3j remake.

i dont have a PSP, but got the DS Lite 2 weeks ago. great little system (no load times!!! i played my friend' PSP and i wa slike WTF is with the loading time? when I play portable ,it will most likely be in subways or waiting rooms, etc, if i spend more time waiting than playing then what's the point?)

that said, i may still get the PSP when prices come down and FF7 comes out

FF remakes are great!

Golden Sun 1 and 2 for GBA is great

DS Lite is definitely the better system unless playing movies on portable platform important to you- in that case, buy a DS Lite, and with the money left over, buy a portable DVD player.

<~ got his DSL a few days ago, along with MarioKart, Puyo Pop Fever, and NSMB, gonna pick up Nanostray and Castlevania soon...

There will also be a Crystal Chronicles coming out for DS as well- in addition to a Tales game and Ash, by Mistwalker (original creaters of FF after they left Squaresoft after ff7).

Must have games for a DS:
Mario Kart DS
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
Tetris DS
Brain Age (if you like puzzle games)
Advance Wars 2 (GBA) or Dual Strike (DS)

Advance Wars is a great way to blow half an hour w/o realizing it.
