So I'm wondering what people like more? I would like to play some of the games online.

Right now I'm leaning towards PSP because of Socom and GTA, and Twisted Metal.

Nintendo DS has Mario cart, the Mario games.

I would like to play stuff online as well.

I would also like to play some videos and music as well so that makes me want PSP more.

It is all about the games and the gameplay you want.

The DS has expansion devices(I think 2 of them now) that let you play movies and music and view pictures. When you purchase these addons, the cost of the DS vs PSP is exactly equal.

It all goes down to which games you like more.

Well, that and the fact that you can play any of the numerous Nintendo titles from way back as well as new titles.

There's only a few good games for the DS that I can see, and at most they're a bit gimmicky. I'd prob get a GBA SP (much cheaper) and go with that for awhile unless you need the latest and greatest.. then it's a toss up.

The DS has an outstanding lineup right now, that beats the hell out of the PSP lineup at the moment. In the last 6 months or so it really has come into it's own. Castlevania, Mario Kart, Nintendogs, etc. It's bringing some solid stuff to the table to be sure. However, like dguy6789 says, it's all about the games that you want. Think about your gaming preferences and then look at the games available on both handhelds and go from there.

I've decided on a DS after much thought. Here are some notes:
- DS is much much cheaper.
- DS games are $20 cheaper. $150 gets you 3 PSP games, and $150 gets you 5 games.
- DS has a better line-up (IMHO!) currently, and in the future.
- PSP isnt a great MP3 players. Its too big and doesnt have alot of memory.
- PSP isnt a practial movie player. Really think about this...when are you ever *really* going to sit down and watch a 30 - 120 min movie on your PSP? On a flight maybe?
- DS in smaller.
- DS has a touch screen.
- Battery life on the PSP leaves alot to be desired.

I guess after I sat back and thought about it, although beautiful....the PSP wasnt practical for my lifestyle. Besides, the DS has Mario Cart MP that you can play wirelessly via the internet.

PSP...

DS is ugly, has little kid games, and graphics are inferior.

DS.

I hate the PSP because, they ask you to buy it in a bundle and waste all that money. To use other features like music and movies is expensive. Battery life sucks. And although the screen looks nice lit up, it sucks because of all the motion blur. And it's very fragile.

What I don't like about the DS is that it's a gimmick and normal gameplay with the stick damages the bottom screen easily. I played the Kirby game and the bottom screen looked bad enough already. That was just one game. Although, it becomes a nice console to play Gameboy Advance games, since it is more comfortable than that SP crap, and DS games that don't use the stick.

I own the PSP and i bought my g/f a DS. If you have to choose one, i say it all comes down to the games. After owning the PSP and playing my g/f's DS, i like the games on the DS better. In fact, i'm gonna buy me a DS right after work!!! I say get'em both like me!!!! =)

DS can be had for $99, much less than half that of PSP. Has some nice online games now + others finally.

Just got an Electric Blue DS for the GF with Animal Crossing and Nintendogs. For xmas...

From what I gathered, a lot of people who bought both the DS and the PSP end up playing their DS more. I've tried both (my roommate had a PSP) and I personally prefer the DS. I regularly watch movies/TV shows and browse the web on my Dell Axim X30 and the PSP just seems too awkward for that kind of use. So now I have my Axim for portable web/video, and my DS for portable gaming.

I just purchased a DS for $99. I can't wait to crack it open and play some Mario Kart online. My friend has a PSP but so far I was very unimpressed. There was nothing really worth playing on it, and the graphics really weren't all that spectacular. Overall I found the DS to be a lot more fun with its gamd line up.

What are these "little kid games" you speak of? What characterizes them? Please back up that statement or retract it.

As far as ugly, I'll give you that - the PSP looks much more slick. But then again, part of the ugliness of the DS is due to its being built like a brick sh!thouse - it's almost impossible to accidentally destroy Nintendo's handheld hardware.

And yes, the DS graphics are inferior. No doubt about it. But then again, graphics are arguably the least important aspect of a game being played on a tiny screen on the fly....

I just got a DS bundle this weekend.

Mario Kart did it for me. Plus FF VI in 2006.

There's no current games on the PSP that would make me want to get it.

No way i would recommend a PSP anymore ... I have only enjoyed one title on the psp and that was Burnout Legend and luminess. Anyways DS has really strong line up of games out and able to play cool RPG title from gameadvance makes ds number one : )

http://www.gamespot.com/features/6140988/index.html > PSP VS DS ! GAMESPOT TAKE ARTICLE

ALL PS is all in wonder house = play alright/crap games + watch video + listen to mp3 + surf the internet + extra if you get anypsp below 2.0.

Anyways DS is all about games and i love :

ANimal crossing
Mario Kart DS
Advance Wars: dual strike
Mario & Luigi
Zelda: The Minish Cap > GBA
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga > GBA
FFIV Advance and crap loads of other GBA

PSP Title i recommend:
Burnout Legend
Luminess
GTA : LIberty city > I didn't like it but if you ARe a gta fan then you will like it

Thats all :!

I own both and I highly recommend DS because its going to get even stronger than PSP and PSP is starting to loose developer support...

If you think Socom + Twisted Metal are great than you really need to play the PSP for few hrs to release they are the greatest game in teh world. PSP needs few good title to really make a break through now. PSP last 3 title that may save or kill the PSP would be : Devil may cry , GT and FF7. But I like the FF on Gameboy. Any RPG fan would buy a DS as it can play old gameboy rog games + DS rpg. PSP still doesn't have one good RPG on the system :!

I own a PSP but, don't own a DS....

My PSP mostly sits around and collects dust the emulator I have sucks and works in slow-mo taking the fun entirely out of that (maybe this is my fault though not sure) If somebody wants to help me with that I would more than appreciate it.......

I have yet to find a game I like except Lumines...

Maybe I'm just grouchy or something but, I'm pretty disappointed with the PSP so far....

I'm sure they will have some great games in the future but, if I were buying all over again, I would buy a D.S. definitely the most bang for your $$$....

Also, like others have said though it's more about what kinda games you want and want do you want the system for....
