Just wanted to point out that while the apparent pricing weirdness is interesting, it's not all that much better than just ordering the same items online using all the rebates and discounts available. According to my figures it's somewhere between $7-$13 better, BUT, that's only if the changes to the order made in the store don't make the MSN holiday reward go away.

Final price(ignoring sales tax) for Gamecube,Wavebird, and Metroid Prime(or probably any $49.99 game)

All ordered online.....$118

Console online, other items purchased in store with strange prices..$106 if MSN dollars applies to whole order(unlikely IMHO)

Console online, other items purchased in store with strange prices..$111 if MSN dollars applies to part bought online (50/50 chance)

Console online, other items purchased in store with strange prices..$141 if MSN dollars are lost (50/50 chance)

All of these are based on using all the Nintendo rebates possible, any Circuit City promos or rebates, and MSN Holiday promo.

It doesnt say why he got $24 off the game, he only says they took off $24 off the console due to computer error. So why are they "supposed" to take off $24 off the game?

So please, dont try to be an a$$ about it :disgust:

This is the part I meant..

begin quote

Circuit City InStore Price Error!!!

end quote

I'm not trying to be an ass, but he said it was a pricing error. I would tell you what the word "error" means, but you might think I was being condescending.

I'll try to clarify my earlier post.

The deal was supposed to be a free Wavebird controller when buying Gamecube with a Game.

Going into the deal I thought they would simply zero out the $35 for the Wavebird. Makes sense right?

What they appear to be doing is crediting $11 off the Wavebird and then crediting the other $24 to the game or the console to make the total $35. What happened to me and Dead Parrot Sketch was that the $24 was applied to the game and the console. So we ended up getting the $35 for the free Wavebird and $24 additional dollars by computer error.

Dont just focus on one sentence, read the whole thing please.

Notice AU Tiger said "The computer took off $59 from the order instead of $35." Obviously $24 error is from the error of the computer (that took off $24 from the console).

Which means they are SUPPOSED to take off $35, which is $11 for controller and $24 for the game. So WHY did they take $24 off the GAME.

EDIT: Thanks for the clarification Tiger

Well, I got the deal this afternoon. I ended up paying $237 including tax for GC platinum, Wavebird, Metroid, and 251 Mem card without the rebates and all.

At first, the guy there gave me the Mario Sunshine GC Bundle. My evil side of me said "What a moron! Dont say anything!" But quickly, the evil side of me was slayed by my conscience and good side.

CC guy: (handing me the Mario Bundle) Well, this is the GC platinum!

Me: Well, this is the Mario Bundle. I want the platinum colored one please

CC guy: Are you sure?

Me: Uh yea, this bundle costs more, it comes with a game and memory card, which isnt what I want.

CC guy: (embarassed) Thanks for your honesty. (Goes get platinum colored GC)

Took him 20 minutes to figure this offer out. I was the first one to do this offer at this CC.

Gonna sell wavebird for $30 and do the rebates. I dont know if I can bear to cut of the UPC from my Metroid cover :disgust:

I'm with you there, I think I'll keep it intact and forget about that $5 rebate.

WARNING - per the below e-mail, the rebate can not be conbined with other offers.

Hi there, XXX

Good question. That this rebate promotion only applies to eligible product purchased between December 8 - December 14, 2002. One rebate is for $25 off the purchase of an eligible, new Nintendo GameCube, while the other is a $5 rebate on up to five eligible games and/or WaveBird Wireless Controllers.

To answer your question, offer good only on Indigo, Black, Platinum or Super Mario Sunshine Nintendo GameCube video game system purchases. The Super Mario Sunshine bundle includes the game, the player's guide, a Memory Card 59, a Nintendo GameCube, a Controller, Stereo A/V Cables, and an AC Adapter power supply. This offer not valid with any other discounts or offers, so there can't be additional items, like Controllers or a Memory Card 251.

If you need a copy of the rebate forms, please visit http://www.nintendo.com/coupon/ to find a downloadable form (.pdf format) you can fill out and submit. For more information on eligible product, please visit the above mentioned web page.

There you go, XXX; I hope that clears things up. Thanks for your email and good luck with all your games!

Subject: Questions on Rebate Offer

Greetings,
My question is the rebate valid on the Gamecube System being sold at
Target containing SuperSmash Brothers and retailing for $149.99.
This target had your rebate point of purchase material but no one at the
store could answer the question. The only boxes this target had on the
self were the ones with a special Target sticker stating the box
contained SuperSmash Brother.
Thanks,
XXX

not with any other offers -- the target bundle includes supersmash bros. the rebate from nintendo specifically states only super mario bundle or else barebones gamecubes. they will prolly also eliminate the bundle deals at sams and costco where they package additional games and memory cards into your bundle

it does not mean that you cant buy a controller while buying a cube. think about it -- wouldnt tha be ridiculous if you decdied to buy additional accessories for your cube but then got rejected for a rebate by nintendo?? and the only reason is because they appeared on your receipt at the same time...i think not. just stick to barebones cubes or super mario bundle, like waht the rebate terms say

CC *did* honor the FAO Schwartz price match. I ordered the WaveBird and GC online, and added the game at the store because you can't order games for in-store pickup. I called ahead and asked "There's an FAO Schwartz just down the road from you, if I bring in a price from their web site, will you match it?", to which they said yes. I wrote down the guy's name. The guy who was at the counter was REALLY cool and helpful, and here's how the deal worked out:

$149.99 Platinum GameCube
+$39.99 Sonic Mega Collection
+$34.99 WaveBird Controller
-----------------------------------------
=$224.97 SubTotal
-$33.00 (110% PM GC to FAOSchwartz.com Indigo GC)
- $5.00 (100% PM Sonic to Target, no idea why not 110%)
-----------------------------------------
=$186.97 Paid up front (excluding tax)
-$35.00 CC MIR (Free WaveBird w/ GC & game > $29.99)
-$35.00 Nintendo MIR ($25 GC, $5 Sonic, $5 WaveBird)
-$38.40 MSN Wallet Rebate
- $5.50 WaveBird PM (110% PM to Target @ $29.99, just remembered this)
-----------------------------------------
=$73.07 AR & PM (excluding tax) - this is MOLTEN - Platinum GC, WaveBird, and Sonic Mega Collection for $73!

Of course, YMMV, but if you have an FAO Schwartz nearby, I think you can swing it. What a deal!

You could also substitute Metroid Prime PM to CompUSA ($39.99) or get just the system as follows:

$149.99 Platinum GC
-$33.00 PM to FAO Schwartz
------------------------------------
=$116.99 Cash up front
- $23.40 MSN Wallet Rebate
- $25.00 Nintendo MIR
-----------------------------------
=$68.59 AR & PM for system only (but why?)

i asked nintendo abt the rebate, and they just emailed me back, and here's what they say:

Hey there.
For the rebate, the submission needs to be postmarked by 1/31/03, so
you have time to get the receipts together. You can include a copy
of the cash-register receipt, but you must include the original UPC
codes. In addition, the rebate is not valid with other discounts or
offers (free gifts with purchase, 10% off purchases, etc.).

There you go; I hope that clears things up. Thanks for your email
and good luck with all your games!

so does this mean our rebates are not eligible cos we are getting a wavebird for free after rebate?? unless of course we send a copy of the receipt which says nothing abt a free wavebird, but unfortunaely mine shows the free wavebird offer....
