Wow, I am really tempted by this deal. But... I read something a few weeks ago about Sega possibly ending their support for the GC.
Anyone have more info on this? I need my sega sports games

hey, how long does it normally take you guys to get your MSN email about the MSN Wallet Promotion? I got the email for my ebgames order a few hours after but for my circuit city order its been a day and still no email. Is circuit city just slower at doing this?

gameboy Sega has not yet officially stated that they would stop supporting the gamecube with their sports titles. They're in the process of figuring things out but I don't think the outcome will be too good.

exactly, i got mine from ebgames in just abt 10-15 minutes, but still havent got mine from circuit city, and i ordered from them yesterday. i chatted with a rep from msn, and they said that i havent got my reward dollars bcos CC havent sent them the info(purchase total etc). so i called CC and a rep says they dont know anything abt when or how they send the info to msn.

If you buy Metroid Prime @ Target, they come with a coupon book inside. There is a $5 off coupon on the Wavebird in there. Combine with the Nintendo rebate to basically get $10 off the Wavebird!

Hi, I've been using the hot deal forum for a while and on a few occasions I wanted to share valueble info, but the GC deal is forcing me to become a member, hehe anyway..

I was going to buy the GC Mario Sunshine bundle from buy.com, since I don't want to wait till Feb. to spend MSN dollars. I was a little worried about what the rebate stated so I email Nintendo like a few of you did about a couple things...

Subject: Gamecube rebates

Hi, if you don't mind I have a few questions I would appreciate if someone could answer for me, before possibly denying myself of the rebates.

1) GC $25 rebate says "Not valid with any other discounts or offers" does this include store discounts ie. $XX off $XXX order or -XX% off?
2) Is buy.com a participating, authorized Nintendo retailer?
3) Can I get another $5 off Mario Sunshine on top of the $25 off GC for doing the Mario Sunshine bundle?

Thanks for your time and clearing things up,
X

Hi there, X.

Good question. The wording for participating and authorized retailers is common for rebates and coupons. Our goal was to distinguish between established retailers, like Best Buy, buy.com, Walmart, etc., and non-established places like online auction sites or your neighbor. As long as you have a cash-register receipt with the required info, like store name, purchase date, item(s) purchased, purchase price(s), then you're fine.

As a side note, purchases must be for eligible products and can't be combined with other discounts (like 10% off purchases) or offers (free gift with purchase). Consult the rebate form for all the details and a list of eligible products. Should you need an extra rebate form, they're found in many Dec. 8 newspapers, at many retailers, and at www.nintendo.com/coupon (just over 4MB).

In addition, Super Mario Sunshine is included with the bundle, so you can't combine rebates. In addition, to qualify for the software rebate, the purchase must be a separate item on the register receipt.

There you go, X; I hope that clarifies things. Thanks for your email and good luck with all your games!

Now either Nintendo is seriously not going to give everyone from here there rebates or he's just pulling everyones chain, hopefully the later. I sent him another email tonight regarding places that have offers, yet still advertise the Nintendo rebate on top of it and also on FOA Schwarz $119.99 sale price, tho shipping and tax sux from there. Seems it takes Nintendo a day to reply. I'll keep everyone posted.

On a side note, I picked up Metroid Prime from CompUSA tonight, driving me nuts not being able to play it, just as bad as when I had the Cendyne stuff sit till black friday, hehe... Well I think they are keeping all the copies in the back, because it was gone on the shelf and I asked if they would have it by the end of the week, so he says he'll go look and brings me out 1 copy, not more to stock the shelf. So if you're looking to get it you might have to ask for it, or if anyone won't PM it cause it's sold out, tell them that's BS that they are holding it in the back.

ok, I was so paranoid about the GC rebate so I just bought a platinum GC from Meijer tonight for $150, used a $10 off coupon, but had them not put it on the receipt, so it should be all good. Final price will be $115+tax, but at least it's a sure deal, unlike some iffy ones.

If you did the circuit city online deal you should be good to go since the wavebird shows up as $35 and isn't free till you send in the rebate.
Nintendo should give you rebates for the gamecube games/wavebird rebate even if you use other discounts since the rebate form doesnt say anything about not being able to combine it with other discounts or offers.

kerrang, ya, that too, the game r0x

Krayzie, forgot the wavebird deal was a rebate, the GC rebate does say it can't be used with any other discounts or offers, the guy from nintendo told me you can't aswell. I could kinda care less about another controller atm, plus I'd have to pay full price for the game (I got MP for $35+tax) and worst of all, I'd have to wait

yea the Gamecube console rebate says no other discounts or offers but the gamecube game/wavebird rebate says nothing of that sort
At least they look like two different rebates to me

KrayzieKMF,

I have never received an MSN confirmation email for purchases from CC, yet when I check my balance it is there. Actually took 5 days to show up.

Also, for anyone wondering if the various other Game Bundle Systems (i.e. Smash Bros.) are included, I would compare the UPC code to the GC console only. If they are the same....you might be able to use it without and problems. On the other hand, Target scans the Serial Number of the system, so as long as the receipt does not show that you purchased a bundle, you are good.

The instore receipt is a mess with the way the package was applied. It looks like I can't use it for the Nintendo rebates since a discount was applied to all items. What's worse is that I received MSN confirmation for my order (that I picked up in store) and it says $0.00. It looks like when they modified my order it zeroed out my MSN order. I have emailed Circuit City regarding the MSN Rewards, but I am not holding my breath.

does circuit city allow pricematches to be done in store when it was originally bought online? if so then you could buy it online, keep teh invoice/packing slip, then take it in store and get it pricematched. you might need to inform the store beforehand, esp because the ads will expire by the end of the week. this way though you will stillhave the original receipt without discounts to send in to nintendo, and your msn should be fine b/c they wont screw around w/ your receipt too much

Meijer has all video games for 20% off today and tomorrow, are you guys saying that I cannot get a rebate on these cause they are on sale?? Then this rebate is a really crappy gimmick!!

If the Wavebird would become available online, I would like to reorder everything again and return it using the first receipt. Till then, I am pretty much stuck unless I buy a Wavebird somewhere else to use in the return.

i agree -- nintendo is screwing over a lot of people by their interpretation of the rebate terms
X4N was able to get meijer to not put discounts on his receipt, so you might be able to do similarly

i just looked over the terms of the rebate
it does speicfically say on the gamecube rebate that it is not valid on any other discounts or offers

however, the games/wavebird does NOT have this line.

it might be best to submit your rebates separately, but i would say discounts on games and the wavebird should be fine

Same thing happened to me that happened to autiger, MSN rewards finally showed up as zero. I bet the whole reason it took so long to get MSN confirmation on Circuit City purchases is because they;ve been trying to figure out how to handle the flood of Gamecube purchases and all of these discounts and ways people are trying to maximize their savings.

Luckily, I also ordered the whole shebang on a seperate order online for normal delivery instead of in-store ! The $47 MSN dollars showed up as expected on that order.

Hope they get more online Wavebirds soon for everyone.

As far as the Nintendo rebate, I wonder if that line about combining it with other offers isn't just a standard disclaimer ? I don't see how they could claim that the $35 mail-in rebate for the Wavebird on-line would conflict with it, since CircuitCity clearly advertises them as both available. There are even links to both rebates that print-out on the receipt, if you buy everything on-line.

Subject: Re: Re : $25 rebate

circuit city has an offer, when u buy a new gamecube console and one
gamecube game, u will get a wavebird controller free after rebate. so
this means that i'll not be getting any rebate cos im getting a free
controller after rebate?? pls clarify, thanks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
here's what the reply says:

Hello again.

Good question. However, the rebate form does specify that it can't
be combined with other discounts or offers. This special offer from
circuitcity.com would invalidate the conditions on both of our
rebates.

Have a great holiday season.

well, i guess we can still get the rebate if the receipt from circuit city doesnt mention any free after rebate on the wavebird. i havent received my order yet, but the confirmation email that i got from CC says clearly abt the offer. im thinking of returning everything and stick to EBgames.
