This is sooo, true. I'm first in line for this mumfudger. Nintendo already has my money, but I be darned if I'll wait 3 months. I mean, I will, but I'll do it with so much bile and angst I may even write a terse email...

The DS launch was better. The US/UK launch was within days. THAT I like. F*** being months and months behind for no apparent reason. As it appears that the device has no region coding, this won't be an inibiting factor. That combined with the stated aim to ship 5 million of these by the end of the financial qtr it is launched in says you have to be doing a near-as-dammit world launch. I just bloody hope they are.

$40 for the Wiimote and $20 for the nunchuk. Kind of disappointing that they're so expensive. Granted it's only $10 (for the set) more than a wireless Xbox controller, but I don't usually spend more than $20 on a controller.

Nintendo has made some awesome sports games in the past. The Mario soccer and tennis games on the GameCube are my favorite soccer and tennis games of all time... amazingly fun. But I don't think Wii Sports will be nearly that good, because Nintendo didn't put the Nintendo characters in it. So obviously they're saving the good stuff for later.

I still think it'll make a decent party game though.

So, those of you who dislike the $250 price would be inclined to buy if they offered a version without Wii Sports for $200? How about a $250 bundle with a coupon for any 1st party game worth $50?

is it at least 480p and widescreen compatible? i dont want my games to look like butt on the aquos. i dont care if its 720 or 480, seeing how dead rising on xbox360 managed to cause me to buy new glasses even though i have a 45" screen

Maybe someone mentioned this prior in this thread but here is the reason why these games are bundled.

1. Teach you how to use the controller so you don't get frustrated when you need to use it for a game you purchased. Why was solitaire free with Windows? To help you learn how to drag and drop and use a mouse. Why was giraffe included in Palm? and so on

For those earlier debating the loss-leader aspect of the hardware:

Wii to be instantly profitable.

I'm ok with the console price, but that kinda chaps my hide about the controller prices. :|

yeah, I think it's more of a $30... but who knows... it may pay off in social entertainment value. this would have been awesome to have back in college

regardless, it's nice to see bundled games again. I would have really like to see two sets of remotes, and no nunchuck. since they were aiming towards group play w/ wii sports, I would have figured they'd do that. bring back the old school bundle days

with a target of 4 million, I sure hope I don't have to wait in line to get one on release day

How in the hell are you supposed to play any games with that controller! Looks like all it has is analog sticks. What do you do when you want to swing your sword, or access inventory, or jump, or whatever? Telepathy? There's like... no buttons! and if those few buttons that ARE there, are mapped to game tasks, how can you press them with a one handed controller? How would I walk up to a guy and hit him with my sword? I gather I would use my thumb with the analog stick... basic movement... fair enough. But now I wanna hit the guy. how?
