"1:36 AM EDT: Virtual Console pricing revealed! 500 yen for NES games (around 4 USD), 800 yen for SNES (around 7 USD) and 1000 yen for N64 (around 8.5 USD). You can pay via credit card or a "Wii points card". Stay tuned!"

Is there going to be some kind of Nintendo conference tomorrow at noon also? I'd like to see it.

I was hoping more like $1 for NES games. the SNES and N64 prices aren't bad but I was hoping for around $5.

249? screw that. graphics look no better than gamecube.

mario galaxy alone cannot get me to buy the system. The motion thing is NOT something that interests me. no one has yet to demonstrate how it'll work in a crowded room.

Plus a sunday release. that seems odd.

I read that the graphics horsepower is only about twice that of the Gamecube.

They instead are trying to widen the scope of their audience.

$250?

That's just too much, it's $300 before you have a full game. Plus it leaves Nintendo in a bad position, if MS wants it bad enough it could very well squeeze the 360 Core in to the same spot.

Looks like it'll be less than $250? Since the Japanese price is 25000 yen which includes tax.

I'm picky in the that I want to see some leap especially paying a higher price. you could easily see the jump from the n64 to the gamecube. graphic sells, especially at their l

plus for 50 dollars more, you can see a huge leap in graphical power and get the 360 core version. Microsoft could even lower price the core or bundle something with it make it worth your while to get the 360 instead.

edit: nintendo japan shows the wii as 25000 yen including taxes. that roughly 212usd.

so maybe its 199 in the US. if that's the case I wouldn't have such an issue.

In a surprise announcement, Nintendo said that it wanted to make Wii a living room centerpiece by shipping the system with features outside of the videogame realm. Wil will include a photo channel, enabling users to display their digital photos through the console. It will also boast regularly updated news and weather channels. In addition, the system will ship with the Opera Web browser, enabling users to connect online.

Also,

Nintendo will launch Wii in Japan on December 2 of this year, it revealed. North America will get the system first.

And it looks like the JPN release will only come with 1 controller, I'd expect the same for the NA release.

I hread it was going to be more in Japan than in the U.S

... so $199 for the U.S is almost guaranteed if that was the case

It looks like it will be $200 in the US with that $212 price tag in Japan. I didn't see anything about only one controller being included though, that would be incredibly stupid since they confirmed including Wii sports with the console.

ign is saying 250 with one controller. Also, $40+$20 for the wiimote/nunchuk combo seems a bit steep...

Come again?

"3:09PM: Press release lists Wii contents: Console, Wii remote with strap, Nunchuck attachment, AC adaptor, A/V cable, console stand, sensor bar, sensor bar stand, and two AA batteries."

Nothing about Wii Sports. The only source I've seen that said Wii Sports would be included was the (apparently) false NYT article which has been pulled.

They still have their article up based on the NYT article, which seems to not be so accurate after all...I guess we'll know for sure on thursday

What press release? I'm only going off the crapily translated famitsu feed.

edit: ah yes the NYT article on IGN. I'm not so sure about that being true though.

Btw, the $212 price tag is supposedly including tax according to the google translated famitsu blog. I'll be a monkey's uncle if they slap a price premium on for the US market. $200 sounds really nice, even if it doesn't come with a game. Wii Sports would be nice but I won't complain.
