Every system since the N64 has been rehash after rehash after rehash, then remakes after remakes, then sequels on all games but Mario games. WTH is wrong with the company. It is amazing that it's been surviving, but this truely makes it a kid console as kids like to see the same things over and over. I like that Nintendo systems are gaming systems only, but it's not a gamer's system.

Their genre's don't vary much and come on.

How many freakin times do we need to see the same freakin Mario Kart. Oooo better graphics, what... an extra level... amazing. It's the same food, only now, it linguini alfredo instead of fettucini alfredo.

Oh man. And how about the damn Zelda's. Ocrina of time was just a remake of A link to the past. Can't believe noone saw that. sure the action was quite good, but the story was just getting old, the world was the same. Wind waker was the only Zelda released that truely has the stuff to be called a sequel. Amazing, everything was completely changed.

Mario Party 244, it just never ends for N64 then gamecube, how many of them are you gonna release. Why not try focusing on some actual games instead of mindless games.

For the N64, there was Mario 64 and then NO OTHER MARIO, none beside the RPG. Get a new franchise.

No more donkey kong country, just another mario sunshine and no more mario.

And besides all those games, there is no other franchises other than nintendo franchises which seemed to get tiring other than Resident Evil.

Where are the RPGs, where is the action. Get a new franchise.

just my thoughts.

SNES was there last good thing(i miss zelda on that). i thought the N64 was trash. the cube is a kiddie console. the DS imo is trash and the hand held market will soon be taken over by the PSP(my prediction).

Hmmm..

Someone doesn't like the #1 money making franchise I guess.

So he must also hate all games that have 2 or more after it like all the final fantasies?

I doubt that. I've heard people rave about the DS, and seen Sony make blunder after blunder with the PSP. Latest episode being the Dead Pixel Press Release, linked on the main AT page.

Nintendo has the handheld gaming market in a vice grip, and I don't see that changing with Sony launching a mediocre product in the PSP.

Nintendo's not exactly alone, what has any other company put out that's been original? I can't think of a single game that actually got me excited about it's release, but maybe I'm just getting old. Just about every game these days is just a rehash of the same things over and over, there hasn't been a truly great game in a very, very long time let a lone one that is original.

For me, the big gripe about Nintendo is that they have not tried to evolve their games with the generations who enjoyed thier consoles and games at Nintendo's prime, specifically, NES and SNES days. They are just too damn arrogant.

When I say evolve, I don't mean "WHOA revolutionary!" kind of thing. I mean games that will keep the past-Nintendo players interested but also keep the nostalgia. Like OP said, there has been a lot of rehash games, although there are exceptions (Zelda games, and Metroid games). Another mistake on their part was using cartridge as medium for N64 and losing a lot of 3rd party support, and they jumped to PS, and this hindered Nintendo from keeping those who enjoyed its past consoles (i.e. tradition of FF series and Metal Gear series), thus PS2 is now the dominant console.

Does this make sense? Sorry, I had too much

The sheer stupidity expressed in that post is mind boggling.

First of all, I'd counter that adults are just as likely as kids to enjoy the familiar. A prime example includes 99% of sports games.

How is the cube "not a gamer's system"?
Windwaker, RE4, Eternal Darkness, Smash Bros., Metroid

Any of those games is reason alone to own the console. Combined with the low price, it's an absolute steal.

I'd like to know how action RPGs, platformers, FPS, racing games, and party games somehow qualify as being of similar genres.

Mario Kart continues to make an excellent game to play with friends, that's why it continues to be released. And for the record, the home consoles have seen a grand total of 3 mario karts. I'd hardly call that milking the franchise.

Calling Ocarina of Time a remake shows how out of touch with reality you are. The game was widely hailed as one of the best games EVER MADE when it came out. Don't believe me? Check out gamespot or any other major review site. Reviews were pretty much perfect across the board. Having a tired, rehashed story generally doesn't get you perfect reviews.

Mario Party continues to be made because GASP - people play it with their friends and enjoy it. It's hardly Nintendo's key franchise anyways. And it's not within the true Mario franchise, but rather an offshoot.

Zelda is an action RPG, but I guess you failed to recognize that. So I guess they have RPGs and action games.

Not to mention that Nintendo continuously pushes the waters, despite your assertion that they are stagnate (forget about Pikmin?, a complete remake of metroid from a side scrolling platformer to a FPS?)

Your rant holds little weight. Nintendo as a company is arguably the single greatest success story in gaming. Even when the critics predict failure, Nintendo almost universally delivers the goods (just witness the hoopla over cell shading in Windwaker). There are a select few companies that can be seen as being as innovative, and even a smaller list of companies which have been both innovative and maintained the ability to turn a profit.

I so strongly disagree with you that I cannot discuss the issue in this thread in a calm and intelligent fashion.

It should suffice to say: You are wrong. Completely wrong.

I think I provided enough evidence to point out how incredibly shortsighted his post was.

I was fairly angry when I clicked the reply button, so I hadn't read the entire thread.

Thank you for shutting him down.

This thread sucks, Gamecube is an amazing console with a long list of unique and high caliber games. Unfortunatly, there really isn't any content in your post to reply to.

Nintendo = Party Games. Get drunk, connect a bunch of Cubes together, and play Mario Kart over LAN.

Actually, connect them first - THEN get drunk.
