Nintendo Summit: DSi XL coming March 28 for $189.99

Got big hands but love the Nintendo DS/DSi games? Then the DSi XL may be for you. Nintendo has just announced at the Nintendo Summit in San Francisco that it is bringing the bigger version of the DSi to American shores on March 28 for $189.

Screw Nintendo. I dropped $169 + a bunch for DSi exclusive accessories less than a year ago, and now they're going to come out with yet another DS model.

Yet I would have to shell out $189 plus whatever the DSi XL exclusive accessories will cost, and take a big loss on the DSi + accessories I already invested in just so the system would be comfortable to use. No thanks.

I can't imagine buying a DSi XL if I already have a DSi. Heck, I already have a DS Lite and I'm not interested in upgrading to a DSi.

It is the same DSi as the one you have...just bigger. No additional functionality.

It is supposed to have longer battery life than the DSi.

The DS is probably my least favourite system of this generation. Doesn't have a lot of games that appeal to me. I have a DS Lite that I bought used. Hardly ever play it. No need to get another.

I don't think the target market is DSi owners, but rather people who don't own a DSi and maybe decided not to get one due to its small size.

Holy mother, that thing is approaching netbook cost territory. That's almost what I paid for my PS3, and $10 more nets a brand new Wii or 360cade.

I wonder if Nintendo is gonna stick with this sell the same hardware in a new box for more money strategy, or come out with the most advanced system ever next gen out of nowhere, and MS and Sony will be like "wat?"

Cause I mean, if they don't actually spend any of their money in R&D, then wtf ARE they gonna do with it? Ducktales??

The DSi (pequino?) cost the same when it was introduced.

I agree about the cost though. To me, a handheld shouldn't be more than $150.

I don't play mine either. I keep my iPod touch on me for my portable gaming fix. It's much easier to carry around.

that would be me. i haven't got a dsi because it is so damn small. though might pick up a XL when they come out.

the XL is nice........I like the size......Too bad I got a DSi. Plus $189 ouch!

Better off saving for the next portable system.

The ds is my favorite and probably most played system. It really depends on what type of games you like. Personally I like rpgs and sidescrollers like castlevania and that is where the ds really shines.
