Lots of stores have the Component and SVideo cables in stock now. I got the SVideo for $19.99 at Best Buy.

I totally agree. But luckily my receiver does component switching, so I was able to run both connections into my receiver and then run a component cable out of my receiver to my TV.

You'd think at least one of the third party companies would make the two seperate!

Great Deal.
I don't want to Hijack this thread, but this is on topic with the quote above:

I would love to see a site do a comparison of quality.
Every time a new console comes out, people always crap on the 3rd party cables saying they are "junk" compared to the name brand ones. I find it hard to believe that the nintendo branded ones could produce a better picture than these 3rd party ones. I have the official Nintendo Gamecube component cables and they don't look like high quality cables at all. Especially compared to the Monster component cables I have for the Xbox (and if you think I paid full price for either of the aformentioned cables you're mistaken). Even the component cables that came with the Xbox 360 look higher quality than the flimsy GC ones.
Anyone seen a comparison? I seem to remember seeing a comparison for the last gen consoles that compared composite, s-video, and component. However, everyone knows component would be the best out of the 3. I'd like to know if 3rd party component cables are really inferior to brand name.

I bought the official ones at Nintendo World @ Rockefeller Center also. I couldn't notice much of an improvement, but my TV isn't that great.

edit: I've ordered 360 games from them before, pretty reliable. Shipping from Hong Kong did not take as long as I thought it would.

Wow, you've order 360 games? That's a bunch

I got these also and I don't see a big improvement. Which is wierd because I saw a big difference using component cables on a PS2 with the same TV.

The cables are pretty thin. Maybe they're just not very good quality.

some reviews comparing standard composite to component

Review #1

Gamespot Review

there is quite a noticeable difference between the two in the reviews which is why i got them. i did notice Zelda to be a little bit crisper with the component but nothing like OMG but i did notice a slight difference

Again,
I think someone would have to be 7/8ths retarded not to know that component cables will look better than composite cables on these systems. But I guess that's who those articles are written for. The real question is whether brand name component cables look better than 3rd party.

doubt theres much difference if at all, since component is spread over 3 cables it matters less, and its only 480p anyways, no big challenge.

and its not hard to tell or judge the difference, just compare it to your dvd playback on the same set using its component cables. your dvd did come with those right? anyways, composite is like old style vcr input..hideous.

The component cables are easy to get, you simply have to order direct from Nintendo at the Nintendo Online Store. The big box stores did not receive any component cables yet and are not scheduled to get any until sometime in January. It took 2 days for me to get mine after I ordered from Nintendo...

True but that costs you $30+

I picked some up off an ebay seller for $15 cash and I did not really notice a difference either. I read a gamespot review that got me all excited, but did not get the same kind of effect. I'm using a Samsung HL-R4667 that supports up to 720p. Maybe my tv is doing some kind of up-converstion internally which is why I can't see the difference. Really depends on your TV.

I got mine about 10 days after ordering, I don't notice much of a difference (in Zelda), and yes the quality of the cables wires are very thin and look fragile.

Yea, also it's not like the regular cable where you can split them and have the sound go to a different direction (like to your monitor and then computer sound in), so you'll have to buy an extender.
