Update: I also got a tip that Best Buy is holding stock for Sunday morning @ 9:00. So get in line early !

Thank you so much! I got in line at BB today at 8:45am and they opened at 10:00. They had 54 Wii's that arrived and I got #27. Much stress is gone now... woohoo!

Congrats. My BB sold out all 50 Wii. About 50% of the people in-line were talking about buying and reselling it. One guy admit this was his 3rd Wii. *sigh* I guess I'll try again next week.

I don't plan on buying any new consoles because the Wii would look no better than the Gamecube on my 42" LCD and the PS3 is so rediculously priced.

Oh well, I should get away from the TV anyway.

WHEN HAVE ANYONE EVER PURCHASED A NINTENDO PRODUCT FOR ITS VIDEO?! that is not the point of the wii...

snes was a pretty powerful console for its time...and the gamecube had better graphics than ps2 and often on par with xbox..

??? Since when did gamecube have better graphics than PS2?

always

Yep. You could always compare Resident Evil 4 on both platforms. Capcom had to make concessions to the video and audio for the PS2 port. The discerning eye will notice the differences immediately (like half the frame rate, using video for the story instead of real time engine, poorer sound..etc). At its best (meaning Nintendo and Capcom games) Gamecube games look better than PS2 games by quite a bit.

Now on to the topic..I'm going to start looking for a Wii soon. I need something different to play. I've been playing to many serious games (Gears of War, Call of Duty 3, FEAR: Extraction Point..etc). I need something colorful and light hearted and I think games like Wii Sports and stuff should take care of that nicely.

3rd Wii....sheesh...got my one and my wifes cousin got his at GS...we were going to get one for his nephew, but a guy in front of us decided to buy one and is trying to pawn it on Craigslist for $400. Hope he chokes on it.

Anyway, the Wii is cool...actually got my wife interested in gaming now. She played tennis for about 40 minutes yesterday before I reminded her that she actually wanted to shower while I watched the kid.

Now, to go and box myself to sleep.....

Any more "insider" tips on the next Wii shipments would be greatly appreciated and helpful to the ones who don't own a Wii yet... like me.

Yes, what is so special about December 3rd?

I'm starting to blame these retailers instead of Nintendo now. Any place that has a Wii in stock wants people to buy a bundle with it. That leaves a handful of "bundleless Wiis" retailers like Walmart and BestBuy. The fact Wallyworld is holding on to the Wii just makes me sick. They obviously enjoy the marketing aspect of having a bunch to sell at one time.

Nintendo should have no problem making Wii since they both old technology and Ninty is making a profit off each Wii sold. But retailers have to be willing to sell them, and without a bundle.

Of course, I estimate atleast 1/3 of the people, if not more, buying a Wii are only doing it to flip it. The Wii really wouldn't sell out, if everyone who bought a Wii had to keep their Wii. One guy I know is trying to sell it for $900.

At some point, I'm going to care less and less about the gimmicky controller. Of course, if this Wii stuff works out in long run, there is nothing stopping Sony or Microsoft from making the same gimmicky controller. Let's hope I get a Wii long before then. Gyration owns the patent, not Nintendo.

On CL locally I can get the Wii for around 350, the whole flipping idea is thankfully going out of style. More shipments will not help their prices, so hopefully the flippers will stop buying.

Gyration owns the patent for rumble stuff, which is why Sony took it out (didn't want to pay royalties). I haven't seen anything about them owning the Wii technology - if you have some info on that, I'd like to see it.

In stock again 1:31 PM EST.

Still has the same crappy games, though. THey could at least offer a better game selection.

Somehow the ignorant bashing always comes into play.
I got Red steel which is killer on multiplayer, Monkeyball awesome on single & multiplayer, and not to mention the wii sports and it's addictive-ness.

I wonder if you're holding out for WOW or Halflife...

Click the freaking link. The majority of games left at WalMart are stinkers.

I think he's refering to being forced to buy 8 games for the Wal-Mart bundle from a limited selection of the available titles. Just went to Wal-Mart's page again. Here's the list That you would need to choose from...

Ant Bully Wii
Barnyard Wii
Disney's Chicken Little: Ace in Action Wii
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 Wii
Elebits Wii
Far Cry Vengeance Wii
Open Season Wii
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent Wii
Trauma Center: Second Opinion Wii

I don't see Monkey Ball, Zelda, Rayman Raving Rabids, or Red Steel.

The only titels on that list that I'd like to try [read "try" as rent or buy used]...
- Trama Center: Second Opinion
- Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2
- Far Cry Vengeance (All I knowis that it's not just a Farcry port ... it's a different game.)

Plus, I don't know about you ... but I don't have time to dedicate to 8 titles. Even if they were all good ones. Like many people I've talked with the bundle I'd buy is:

Wii
- Extra Wii-Mote
- Extra Nunchuck
- 2 Classic Controlers
- Zelda
- Choice of additional game from entire catolog.
- Some controler skins with stringer wrist straps.

Still a pricy bundle ... but not as useless as Wal-Mart's 8 games + Wii

very true... totally not interested on some of those ****** games... if they were good, walmart would have them sold out already, and no need to stick them into the bundle, lol

Immerse owns the patent on "force feedback".

Gyration owns the patent on the micro-gyroscope used for motion sensing. A better version of it is used as a guidance system in missiles. Technically Thompson owns the patent since they own Gyration.

They also make the component for expensive model RC helicopters and air mice. Basically Sony or Microsoft could just buy that component from Gyration and make their own Wii-mote. There would be nothing to stop them.

Ah. The problem with MS doing it (since Sony already is to some extent), is that it would end up as just a gimmick controller, not the central concept of the system. It is always very difficult to get developers to create games that require add-ons.

Oh I totally agree. I only want Wii for the sports game though. At no point do I want to play a FPS or any other kind of game with a motion-sensitive controller. It will completely be an even more gimmick controller if it was for XBox 360 or PS3. But if only the sports games support it, then it will be fine. Really, aiming with the Wii in Red Steel drove me crazy and the use of the controller in Zelda wasn't all that immersive. (Don't get me wrong, Zelda is a great game. The Wii-mote use in it, not so great.)

The Wii-mote is really ideal for sports games and that's about it. Baseball is great and Madden is even better. But you can't play Street Fighter with a Wii-Mote, unless maybe you taped some to your legs, much less a UFC game. I don't need a Wii-Mote for a traditional RPG either, where the computer calculates combat for me based on my character's level.

Now if DDR could come to the Wii...

Well back on topic.

The Best Buy around my area told me today that new shipments will arrive this coming Monday. I dunno if they just trying to get rid of me or not, but looks like I'll try again Monday before work.

So do I try Walmart on Sunday or Best Buy on Monday... why not both.
