Even Nintendo's codenames for the Gamecube (Project Dolphin), its GPU (Flipper) and CPU (Gecko) are better than Wii. It may mean something in Japanese but it sounds stupid in English.

They may as well call it Nintendo Pee Pee. Not good marketing.

Maybe they think it's cute because it sounds like "weeee" (as in: I'm having fun). But it sounds moronic. From now on I will pronounce "Wii" as "WHY" . It sounds better, and it evokes the thought "Why did they give it such a stupid name?"
