I miss my old G35. I needed a kayak carrier and that car wasn't practical for that . I also need to get a house so its going to take a couple of years before I can get another one.

Hopefully they show the new Max at the Denver Auto Show this weekend.

Have an '03 Altima with almost 90K miles.

The 3L V6 is killer for gas mileage! we shall see...

That's surprising! We've had two I30s in my family (I had a 97, my mom a 96) and they were totally rock solid... The VQ series is considered one of the most reliable makes on the road. You must have got a lemon or purchased it from someone who neglected basic maintenance.

Yeah I've got 145K miles on my VQ in my 97 Maxima - the I30 is just a Maxima rebadged with slightly different styling and different interior.

The V6 does very well for mileage. The last time I filled up I got 26MPG with a mix of city/highway driving.

Um, I'm getting more like 19-21mpg... I've gotten above 26 only on pure hwy miles.

Yeah, I know that they're just Nissan parts and stuff. I actually bought it off my aunt who bought a new car in 2006. She always had the car serviced at the dealer for some reason too.

Some things have been pretty routine: new brakes, tires, battery etc.
Other things that broke/replaced: knock sensor, oxygen sensor, starter, CV joints/axles, maybe more I can't remember.

Now I might have to replace the Cam shaft sensor... *sigh*

It's all added up to quite a lot more than I had anticipated. I previously drove a 1992 Sentra which was more or less okay. Nothing major except for replacing the clutch once. Towards the end I think it was having minor transmission issues though.

<EDIT> I'm surprised this hasn't been moved to "The Garage"

Cool.

Mines Graphite Metallic.

I'm going to end up lifting mine and putting a light bar on it and some new bumpers and armor, winch, etc.

i was going for dark charcoal but i decided against it so i went with silver.

Do you do any offroading at all?

I don't like blak cars. I would have gotten silver over that as well.

For those CV joints/axles - make sure you check the CV boot (the rubber part) regularly. A tear in that can lead to the grease getting out and dirt getting in, which will ruin just about anything based on bearings.

For more city driving I tend to get around 22-23MPG. Try replacing your spark plugs, fuel filter, PCV valve. Use NGK plugs.

Knock sensor and O2 sensor are typical replacements...the reason they are expensive is that they are hard to get to. The O2 sensor itself should only be maybe $100 max - not too bad for a part, but you get chewed up on labor. Knock sensors are a bit more...up to $200 max I'd say.

Would that be an Infiniti G35, M35, or M45?

No it's the Infinite Sedan. It's length knows no end.

I loved my 96 Maxima right up until I killed it. Great car. The VQ series is a hell of a motor.
