And a government-mandated sale is?

Tell me... just what is the market value of a property when its entire surrounding neighborhood has already been foreclosed by eminent domain?

to anyone but the person who just bought up the surrounding property?

Well I think MS needs to take some steps that may be contoversial. They are the poorest state in the union. Most of the state is an absolute sh!thole.

Market value.

I'll answer it. It's jack sh!t. By already grabbing the surrounding homes, the only entity that will buy it the corporation. So the hold out argument is pointless. The corporation could just as easily ruin the property owner by holding out on him and building the facility around him and his property value would be zero.

The fact is, most of these eminent domain grabs have been just like when Boston built the skyway back in the '60s and grabbed thousands of homes for a buck each. Hard to sue when you're out of the street.

first of all, nissan is a hebrew name for one of the months on a jewish calendar. that said, the name "nissan" as a jewish name (uzi nissan is jewish) has been around for about 3000 years.

i doubt nissan cars were around that long.

if nissan (motors) wanted that domain name, they should have purchased it before uzi nissan did.

and again, what's with people bringing up OLD news to the forums?

Stupid. Everyone knows that Nissan is a Japanese name!!!! I never saw a 350Z rolling off an Israeli assembly line did you????

who said that nissan has to refer to a car? nissan is a biblical name. why don't you open up a bible?

So what? Are you saying that Japanese didn't have the name Nissan before biblical times? HAH!!!! SUCH ARROGANCE.

such stupidity on your part. i want to see nissan motors make that claim. then i'll appreciate what you've said.

and quitbanningme, who responded to you first, already answered this question.

Well, I also think that people should be forced off their properties if they don't want to be. Depends on the situation. Obviously, those who are genuine hold outs should be compelled to sell, but the elderly being forced off simply because they didn't want to sell at all is just plain wrong.

there are always people that will not want to be bought out in any eminent domain case. lots of people didn't want to move when they wanted to expand I10 here in town. but they got bought out anyway.

So what if Nissan is a name of a month in the Jewish calendar. I highly doubt they used that word for its name. Nissan in Japanese means Japan Industries or Japan product. Its like the Hebew girl's name Naomi which also happens to be a very common Japanese girl's name except its pronounced Nah Oh Mee.

When eminent domain attacks: What was wrong with these homes? Nothing, according to those who once owned them. But the city wanted more, more, more. (More tax money, that is.) http://www.lileks.com/mpls/modern/deadburb/index.html <--In case you're interested, this is a series of pre-wrecking ball pictures of the site where Best Buy's marketing minions now plot and ponder, "how much will somebody pay for this $0.85 USB cable?"

"Nissan" doesn't mean anything other than they took the name of an auto manufacturer and shortened it to make the name of a new one.

It didn't exist until 1934 and then only as a name of a company.
