Today we went looking for a used car for my wife. We live in Halifax, Canada. Here?s what we found so far:
2002 Dodge Neon, 87K Miles, (140K KM) $5995 plus taxes

2001 Dodge Neon, 70K Miles, (114K KM)$5995 plus taxes. Needs new tires.
2001 Nissan Sentra, 100K Miles, (160K KM)$5995 plus taxes.

The MSN Auto review site gives a better reliability score to the Neon.
If we decide on one of the Neon, is it better to get the 2002 unit with 87K miles or the 2001 with 70K miles (older but lower mileage)?
The Nissan has a much better ride then the Neon but I am kind of scared of the high mileage.
Are there any opinions out there?
UPDATE:
We went out today and came home with a new (to us) car.
Two cars got our attention today, a Hyundai Elentra 2002 and a 2003 Grand Am.
2002 Hyundai Elentra VE, 44K Miles, (71K KM) my price $8500 plus taxes
Blue Book Value: $7375 to $8400. US dollars.
My price is slightly above the Blue Book value. The car is rated 4/5 for driver safety.
2003 Pontiac Grand Am, 38K Miles, (62K KM) my price $8795 plus taxes
Blue Book Value: $9000 to $10700. US dollars.
My price is right bellow the Blue Book value. The car is rated 4/5 for driver safety.
We test drove both cars and decided on the Grand Am for the following reasons: Low mileage, newer year, comfortable ride, sporty look, fair acceleration, excellent sound system, parts readily available and my wife liked it (most important). In the end we decided to spend more money and get a car that will last us longer and that should be reliable for the next few years. I think we got the car for a fair market value compared to everything else we looked at.
And here is the winner: Pontiac Grand Am 2003
Thank you for all the replies and comments.
