Who uses NLite around here? How is it? I'm thinking I'll use this for my next format, as its is annoying to have to uninstall programs I don't want.

I use it. Made a slipstreamed copy of XP that installs my minimums. Pretty handy for those of us who reformat every couple months.

I used it and was very impressed. I didn't use it to install my main apps, but it works great for automatic install of drivers, initial tweaks, and unattended install.

I use it at work. The service pack, driver integration, and unattended installation works great, but the patches sometime come out as messed up installations <shrug>. Still a big time saver though.

I do, my only recommendation is to not remove any components... there's not a huge benefit, and sometimes you can remove something you need, and can't add it later on.

meant to try this for my last vista install but was too rushed - and my cd burner was messing up.

nlite is awesome though I use it at work and at home...saves SO much time slipstreaming in drivers for raid cards...its allowed me to go floppy-less for quite some time.

Can I use this to load SATA drivers on to a XP SP2 cd, so I can install XP to a SATA drive without the need for a floppy?

I have used it for XP installs (slipstream SP2) along with RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack and other files on that site. Works great.

yes. you extract your xp cd into a folder, load up nlite, do the modifications. when you finish with nLite it creates a bootable .iso for you.

Yep, the integrated SATA drivers was very easy to do, fast, and worked perfectly and seamlessly. I had asked that question earlier in anticipation of getting my new 500gb SATA drive Friday afternoon (I have no floppy drive), but when I got home from work today, the drive was already there! I ordered it at almost 10pm EST on Monday, free 3 day shipping, and it went from California all the way up to the Keweenaw of the upper peninsula of Michigan by about 3pm today!


I would've like to have taken the time to do a fully customized XP SP2 install (already got a XP SP2 disc) so it is more automated, but I just wanted to get a new XP install on my new SATA drive. I might do that later once I try Vista, and if I don't like that at all and end up sticking with XP for a while longer, it'll be worth it to do a customized nLite ISO how I want it.

Thanks for mentioning this. I've heard of it in the past but never bothered to check it out.
