Now your just stating the obvious. There is no reason to post how buying a new car is dumb. I don't care what you think. I bought a new car and nothing is going to change that. So why state it, just to make a feeble attempt at trying to make me feel dumb for buying a new car. GOD FORBID ANYONE BUY NEW.

Right because I want to pay $3/gal for premium and NOT average 36mpg mixed driving.

You don't need premium. Regular is what, 2.20ish right now? The I4 Accord gets 34mpg highway and is a much more substantial car.

New RSXs do start at 20. I meant 2 year old examples, which can be had for 16k. Notice where I put 2 years old, and new cars FTL.

Prove it. I seriously don't recall any newer 2004+ Hondas that don't run 93 octance. Even the RSX, which is a I4 REQUIRES 93 octane.

I don't care that 93 octane is 2.20 in podunk Iowa or Missouri, I live in a major metro area and premium is still 2.99/gal.

I like how you call Iowa and Missouri podunk signifying their unimportance and you buy a Yaris which signifies the same in yourself......

That's not what I was stating, but interpret it however you like. I was merely pointing out rural areas in the midwest have the lowest gas prices and that is not relevant to me. I never said they were poor or I was looking down at them. Never knew using one word would trigger such a sensitive reaction.

I am starting my career and this is my first car, and usually you don't make 100k your first job unless your a doctor or lawyer. So I don't plan on driving an econobox forever.

Yes that is an issue. Someone trying to be frugal with mileage, but eating the depriciation of a new car. They don't go together. The best way to do it from a practical financial standpoint si to let someone else eat the depriciation, and buy a 1,2, or 3 year old car. If you drive your new car for 8 to 10 years until it hits 200k and the wheels fall off then it doesn't matter as much. But if you're like most people who will get something else before then, a 1 or 2 year old car will last you until you get the urge to change, and is a better buy.

Dude, chill. Why do you care so much? It's going to be your car so long as you're happy, that should be the only thing that matter.

I think that Yaris is a POS and wouldn't buy it at that price but that's my opinion. I'm not going to be the unfortunate one driving that car.

Than move along. Do you go through the mall parking lot and explain to everyone why you wouldn't drive their car and why it was a bad idea to even buy and how your car is better?

I didn't make this thread so people could tell me why my choice was so bad. Because you can say, hey relax I am just saying what I would do, but your really not. Your bashing my car.

No I doubt he goes through the mall parking lot and explains why he wouldn't drive their car, but aren't you doing just the opposite?

And no you didn't make this thread so people could tell you your choice was bad. You made this thread because you thought "people should care" about your POS Yaris. Guess what? Noone does and the only reason this thread has lated 5 pages is because everything thinks the Yaris is a POS and it's hilarious watching you trip over yourself justifying it over 3mpg. Driving a Yaris is a much bigger dig on someone then living in Missouri or Iowa......

I think this sum it up real nice. If you don't plan on driving the damn thing forever, why get it brand new and for $15k?! Your depreciation cost sucks up any mpg saving....

Right cuz you care enough to post. Your miserable life must be pretty bad to have to sit here and waste time trying to rip into someone else because you hate your life. Or maybe you just the ATOT defender, and love to show off your e-penis.

Your post is irrelevant. There are 100 new threads a day posting about random things people get excited about. I thought this section was called OFF-TOPIC. Just because you guys have a complex with a Yaris isn't my problem. It's a great car with great gas mileage and I wanted one.

Is it economical to buy any brand new car? If you want to save every last dollar no, but I have to luxury to pay for this car in full so I don't mind.

To the guy comparing me to poor people, I am paying cash for this car and that was a huge factor in my decision. I am not wasting thousands in interest.

Yep, I'm sitting in Iraq right now and have nothing better to do- what's your excuse?

Yet you wrongfully b|tch about the price of premium gas which an Accord does not require, along with the difference in mileage, which amounts to 0.01% of the cost of paying for a 15k car in cash.

edit: The brightside however, is if you continue like this you may just strike oil with the hole you are digging. Then you can be free of all of your mileage worries.

Bears game got boring.

To clarify. I wanted to buy new because I am sick of used cars with problems from other people. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense but a penny pinching point of view, but I don't really care.

No more so than 90% of the other vehicles on the road. What's your problem with it?

Though I still don't understand why anyone would buy a brand-new econobox. Seems to defeat the purpose IMHO.

Silly rabbit. This is the first year the Yaris has been released INSIDE the United States.

The Yaris is the first econobox ever sold?

I could have sworn I've seen a used Corolla/Civic/Mazda3 at least once in my life...

Not the RSX base model

And your reasoning is backwards. An I4 vehicle like the RSX Type S is more likely than a car w/a V6 to have been tuned to squeeze out some extra horses, eg require premium.

This......is.....the.......FIRST......YEAR.....the....Yaris......has....been....SOLD......INSIDE....the ....USA. Better?

Yaris does not mean Mazda 3, Civic, Corolla. Better?

Nope, I'm pretty sure reading comprehension is getting the better of you. i'll isolate the quote so it's easier:

Why yes, you're correct Jagec. Hmmm...now what would a good alternative to a brand-new econobox be. How about, a used econobox!

A two-year-old model of any of those three econoboxes can be had for well under $15k and more importantly (focus now), will sell for much more than your brand-new Yaris a few years from now, when you move on to your next car.
