Nvidia will never die. If anything, they'll evolve. How many of us will be walking around with little tvs in our pocket disguised as cell phones soon? nVidia is supplying the chip for the Razor tv phone and others. Small moves like that will ensure their survival.

Even if they end up as five smart guys doing business out of an apartment, our future calls for what they know how to do. We like to be entertained visually. They make the stuff that makes it possible.

If nVidia gets into trouble, it will only be because they can't make a good processor. Once CPU-integrated graphics come about, RIP GPUs. I'm confident they're working on a solution as we speak however.

I think IBM already hooked up with AMD. It seems to be an IBM/AMD/ATI threesome. Will be interesting to see what happens between nVidia and Intel.

Hopefully nothing. Im not an ATI fanboy as I can admit that Intel has won this round with their core 2 Duo v. X2, however on an ethics basis I will never buy/support another Intel chip. I do HOPE that Nv will get into the CPU market and take on intel and AMD. I also wish AMD/ATi all the luck in the world. who knows, when they perfect the integrated CPU/GPU I may just give ATi another shot.

did I say anything about the new Radeon , Thanks, AGP
1. Fluctuations happen. $1.50 isn't that much. AMD is at a 52 week low.

2. NF2/3 do work in Vista. I'm not sure what features are missing; I know people are saying that the driver performace may be poor as well.

3. Crappier compared to whom? We have yet to see R600 with a working Vista driver...

the stock didnt drop because of this "news". nvidia im sure will be fine. why would anyone design a GPU using x86. x86 is a horribly bad and ancient instruction set, the only reason everyone uses it is because of backwards compatibility. there is no need for backwards compatibility in a GPU with x86.

not to mention if the gpu had t have all the x86 compatibility it would be a huge die. gpus dont hvae t have things like branch prediction or huge L2 caches, because the code is very linear etc so the logic if the entire article is pretty stupid.

lastly pretty much all tech stocks dropped on friday. 1.50 in nvidia is maybe 4% and a lot of stocks, intel , amd, micron, etc dropped friday because of comments by some federal reserve types about interest rates. thats all.

lol.
1.) Every stock there is can go up and down. A few $$$ doesn't make a hell of a difference.

2.) Things could change but your right. But how many people with NF2/3 want to run vista anyway?

3.) So what? The OS JUST came out. Give it a few months. The drivers will eventually surpass even XP's drivers (or at least they should).

Either side you look at. ATI or Nvidia the drivers aren't the greatest in the world. ATI's drivers are better then Nvidias at the moment but just wait till the spring. I think we'll see a host of new and better drivers for vista.

What worries me is that AMD's stock went from $42 to $14 in a year. That's bad, bad, bad.

Didn't know creative makes video cards, but if you are talking about sound cards- me thinks cmedia and others have more than caught up and creative will have to move on to something else. But possibly you are right that soon there will not be much of a gpu market.

Actually I think creative did have a video card before (some else's chip). Of course, I was referring to the fact that they pretty much own the high end sound card market. I would imagine that NVIDIA will eventually be the only player in the high end video card market.

It has nothing to do with one company being better than the other. I just don't think the market is strong enough to support the R&D for 2 top end companies. I think AMD's priority is their fight with Intel and after the C2D launch, they are going to need all their resources to stay in that fight.

It was Creative who marketed the first consumer oriented 3D chip the 3DLabs GLINT. They now own 3DLabs, not that they have done much with them since acquiring them (a familiar story for everything Creative gets their filthy mitts on I'm afraid).

Don't the vast majorty of computers have AC97 sound? Pulling a number out of my butt, I'd guess AC97 outsells Creative 10 to 1.

Well Intel integrated graphics chips outsell NVIDIA and ATI. However, I'm only discussing the discrete (non-integrated) card market.

With amd owning ati, look for more propriety solutions. Nv is in between a rock and a hard place, but a little adversity is good.

I believe Creative also fits into the AC97 category.

Is there something you disagree with in that post?
The OP however wrong he was, didnt bring up R600. In response nano brought out his insecurity (R600).

edit: keys, so you agree with nano that R600 is 5% faster and has twice the power reqs?

No, I don't. Simply the question I asked. I wanted to know. Nothing more. Nothing less. /fini

I won't even quesion the original topic. I'll just smash every nVidia card I own and dash to my local body artist (you know, the claire's store at the mall? quite manly) and get an ATI tatoo. In all seriousness though, I'm sure nVidia will be just fine, and i'll continue to buy whatever card suits my needs at the time!
