No 3D Acceleration coming from my GeForce TI4400

First off, I have an Asus A7V333 mobo, AMD XP2000+ processor, PNY Verto GeForce TI4400 128MB, 512MB PC2700, Win XP, 80GB HD.

Because I was having problems getting games to work and getting 3D acceleration to work properly before, I decided to do a clean install of XP.

It installed fine. Then I installed the sound, video and mobo (Via 4-in-1) drivers from CD.

When I tried running DXDIAG, it says the condition is fine, but when I hit "Test DirectDraw" or "Test Direct3D" my computer freezes/crashes and then reboots on its own.

On such a clean system, what could possibly be the problem? I am at loss as to what else to try...

Oh, I also copied the following info from the SiSandra utility:

According to the Asus website, there are several newer BIOS versions available (up to 1014), but I'm not real familiar with how to flash the bios and I really don't want to screw it up. But if it might help my problem, I'm willing to give it a shot.

Another thing I noticed in the Sandra utility: When I click on the DirectX Information icon, it displays information that DirectX is working fine. However, when I click ont he OpenGL Information icon, my computer crashes. Strange.

BTW, I do have a brand new Antec 430W power supply. And I already grabbed the latest 4.43 via 4-in-1 drivers. Still no luck.

Go ahead and try updating the video drivers, but if that doesn't work, do this to help troubleshoot the problem more specifically:

Right click on My Computer to get to the properties, then go to the advanced tab, and choose startup and recovery. Uncheck Automatically reboot. Then, (IIRC after rebooting) the computer will start displaying BSODs instead of just restarting on an error. You can use the information from a BSOD to help troubleshoot your problem. If you see a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (again IIRC that's what to look for), you might be having an "infinite loop" problem. Usually that can be solved by updating DirectX, video drivers, 4in1s (if those apply to you), BIOSes, and, rarely but drastically, swapping hardware.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I did something which made it work. I changed from 4X AGP (in the bios settings) to 1X and now 3D acceleration works properly.

I'm sure it's running too slow though, but is there any indication of what would cause 1X to work and 4X not to work?

BTW, I tried 2X and that screwed up everything! Normal graphics were blurred, system was running way slow. So I'm switched back to 1X for now.
