Well my system began crashing while playing need for speed most wanted and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I removed the side cover of the case and as I was looking around I did notice one thing....... mention that in a second. However over the past few days the system has become less and less stable and I am getting a lot of program errors. Let me lay out the specs of the system and give you the problems I have found so far.
system
-epox 8rda+
-athlon 2100 running @ 2Ghz
-1.5 gigs of corsair value select memory pc 3200
-ati 9600 pro
- antec neo-power 480 (3 months old)
what I have found so far:
1. when I looked at the system closely I saw that there was corrosion on top of one of the transistor/capacitor next to the mosfets. looks like a brownish rusty color (can't be good!)
2. in the bios under pc health the -5v reading is saying 0
any help at all would be appreciated.
TIA
