Universal Studios Home Video announced that it will release a complete DVD set of the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica TV series on Oct. 21. Timed for release during the 25th anniversary of the original Galactica TV series, the six-disc Battlestar Galactica?Complete Epic Series DVD box set will feature all 24 hour-long episodes of the original series in their air order, remastered with enhanced sound. The set will also include newly produced and never-before-seen bonus features, including interviews with series creator Glen A. Larson and stars Richard Hatch (Apollo), Terry Carter (Col. Tigh) and Anne Lockhart (Sheba).

It is called political correctness.

If you followed the original BSG there were no combat pilots that were women. The women pilots were supply ship pilots and not allowed to fly in combat until the # of male combat pilots forced Col Tighe to "recruit" the females that could fly to be pilots.

Now that idea does not match current POLITICAL CORRECTNESS so SCI-FI in it's greatness has once again decided to screw with something that worked (oblique reference to Farscape). Well I will check out the movie but if they serialize it you can count on the fact that I will not watch it. Mostly based on the principal that a slight rewrite of the original would be ok but NOT CHANGING THE SEX OF 2 OF THE MAJOR CHARACTERS

i remember the show. and, honestly, does the gender of two characters change so much that you cant watch it.

(when i say i remember it: i remember it being a piece of crap but lapping it up as a kid, like most shows that seem to find a home on the sci-fi channel they still hold some sort of sentimental value to me but as far as quality, meaningful entertainment they seem to be lacking.)
what damage does adding these two women do that good writing and acting couldnt save?

I Love BSG! some of my first TV memories were of it!

I'm buying that DVD set fo sho! wish I could get the sci-fi channel channel w/o a cable box I refuse to pay for one of those. I'll wait for the DVD of that like i did with the Dune movies from them...

I would think the character is named after Starbuck from Moby Dick just like the coffee chain.

i completely combined the two shows as i realized a couple hours ago.
oh well...i think i like the idea of those two shows better than i liked the idea of the single one.
