Georgia is at it again. They realized if they actually let people vote, they aren't a ruby red state. So now come the ridiculous restrictions. If you don't have a car registered in the state, you have to go to a hearing to provide you are literate a resident, of course that won't happen before the run offs. Everyone involved with this should be personally liable for civil rights violations.

Then the security of state decided to through in some good ol' republican virtue signalling. Of course, unlike democrats that "signal" that they wear masks to protect other people, this guy is signalling that he has no issue with subverting American democracy.

This stuff does not stop. In PA you have to have a checking account with printed checks or another kind of currency to get Drivers license or state ID. They do not take green backs you have to buy another kind of currency and it is legal.

While I agree Repubs will do anything to supress the vote at any moment, I do believe the FL atty. in the article below, and his encouragement to suddenly register in GA to completely queer the vote so the two senators are ulitmately chosen by the gov, this probably isn't one of them.

Florida attorney under investigation after saying he is moving to Georgia to vote

Georgia officials tell Fox News they are investigating a Florida attorney for attempting to vote illegally in the state's Jan. 5 Senate runoff, after a video emerged of him stating his intent to move to Georgia temporarily and encouraging others to use his relative’s address to do the same.

In a speech on Nov. 7 to the Bay County Florida Republican Party, Florida attorney Bill Price announced he was “moving” to Georgia to vote for Republican Senate candidates in order to help Republicans keep the Senate majority.

“If we lose the Senate on Jan. 5 in Georgia, we will become Venezuela,” he told the crowd inside the county headquarters in a video posted to their Facebook page, “and I will invite each and every one of you to be my roommate in Georgia.”

“I’m changing my voter registration right now, and I’m inviting two million people to be my roommate.”

This election is the beginning of the end. While some Republicans have stood by their states election results, they will be voted out and replaced with Trump sycophants that will do whatever it takes to win going forward. Also, voter suppression efforts are gonna ramp up big-time.

If conservatives start to lose democratically, they will not abandon conservatism, they will abandon democracy - Frum

This isn't a poll tax, because the new requirements doesn't call itself a poll tax.

Easy peasy.

Maybe I'm misreading it, but wouldn't this only apply to people that also have a vehicle when they try to register to vote? As in, the only people that would need to be worried would be those committing vehicle registration fraud.

No, it means that if you don't have a vehicle registered in GA then your registration application is instantly suspect. So, basically anyone without a car can be challenged.

New version of literacy tests and poll taxes. All about suppressing the black/brown vote.

A blatant republican attempt to prevent people from voting. They know that if people are free to choose, that the party of racist bigots will not stand a chance, and are willing to shit on the Constitution, peoples rights, and democracy in that goal.

Many wives, high school and college students living at home drive a vehicle that is not in their name.
Of course their response is, well prove residency another way, perhaps a utility bill. Oh wait, wives, high school and college students, don't have a utility bill in their name either.
Other ID, often required to prove citizenship, SS Card, passport do not have any residence information on them.

" Promotes Voter Fraud

Bill Price did a Facebook live video about him moving to Georgia to vote in the Georgia Senate races. He invited anyone to do the same using his brothers address in Georgia. This is considered Voter Fraud and is a Felony. How can a lawyer promote that you break the law and get arrested. Hope they disbarred him and he goes to jail over this.

Or required to provide another means of authentication.

Every time a roadblock is put up to make voter registration more difficult, you and your ilk find a way to justify it, or waive it away as inconsequential. People like you make me sick.

Yeah, ha ha, I remember when, as a young'un I went to the DMV for my driver's license not knowing they don't accept cash. I'm so OLD, this was before the widespread use of credit cards.

This was done because of thieves among the DMV's own employees. Give 'em cash, a percentage would go into their own pockets. What a state, what a country!

Last I knew the MVD only takes checks and money orders. No credit cards. I got a photo ticket just south of Joe's house in Delaware and they only took check or money order. They would not let me take the cost of the Money order off the ticket so I never bothered paying. I appeared and offered cash.

Paid for stuff at both NY DMV in 2017 and MA RMV in 2018 with a credit card. Granted, it was for routine stuff and not a ticket.
