I've noticed other people with a similar problem and I've only managed to find one solution where the guy did some crazy stuff with the card not sitting in the socket correctly, some tape and 30 degree angles or some such madness. So I'd like to find a more solid solution if possible.
Anyway heres my set up.
A8N SLI Premium
4400 AMD x2 dual core
2GB Corsair RAM
250GB WD HDD
Asus 7800GTX
Windows XP SP 2 with dx9.0c
Okay so heres the problem. I've had this system running perfectly for 2-3 years. Last night I turned the computer off normally and all seemed well. This morning however when I pressed the power button the system began to boot but instead of the usually short single beep the bios plays at start up I got a long beep with what seems like two short blips on the end of it.
As well as this, the monitor did not activate at all and there was no display. Not even the bios screen was displayed. However the system did boot into windows as I could hear it in my headphones, and I was able to shut the computer down with "Windows Key > U > U" for shutdown. Now whenever I turn on the system I can hear "System Failed VGA Test" in my headphones with nothing but a blank black screen all the way into desktop.
Ruled out:
-Monitor works fine.
-Power, hardrive, memory and cpu all seem to be fine as the system loads normally and can be shut down normally, but there is no display at all.
-The graphics card also seems to be fine as I switched it from the blue PCI-E slot to the black slot and booted the system which gave me a display all the way into deskop but the screen was flickering. But when I attempted to adjust the resolution and frame rate the screen went blank and I have been unable to get it to display since.
I have been unable to test the card in another computer as of yet so I can't rule it out completely, but it seems odd that the fan still works. And if it was truly shot I dont think it should have worked at all when I swapped it from the blue pci slot the black slot.
Any ideas :C
