No DVD in windows WX

I am runing XP rc2 on an athelon 1.4 with a ATI AIW radeon. When I first set this rig up and installed xp, everything worked fine. I had to reinstall XP due to installing adaptec ez cd creator (bad move) and when i tried to play a dvd, i get eror messages, both in ATI's player and in windows media player. ATI tells me the it is either not enough memory avabial, display overlay not enabled, or no audio output device, I tried to install teh newest win2000 dirvers for teh AIW, but got the message saying they are not approved for xp and got scared of crashing my system yet again. anyone ideas on how to fix this? I think I am running the drives that came on the xp2 cd for the vid card.

there is some new XP drivers for the radeon out now. Why don't you try those. Just do a seach for a post by nfs4, or look on the news page of anandtech. It was posted yesterday.

Install PowerDVD after installing your drivers.

I am not using, nor do i have power DVD, im using teh windows xp built in player and ati's dvd player

airis2001, I am a beta tester for M$ and I can tell you that with a Radeon, you will need to use third party software to watch DVDs. PowerDVD is best, WinDVD is ok. I personally use PowerDVD with my Radeon in WinXP and Win2K.

i have the same setup and had the same prob., so this is what i did,get MORPHEUS, search for dvd xp patch, nuff said!

I was using teh ATi player just fine for a whole, til i had to reinstall xp, I think it was when i put rc2 on. that it started, cause i know it worked under rc1
