No funny female comedians.

Hey,

This is not a sexist judgment, not a fact, and not prejudice. It's an observation, and an opinion. If your opinion differs, I'd like to hear some specifics. But what I'm saying is, I have never seen a female comedian that can make me laugh. What's up with that? The ones who have been even remotely funny to me have been entirely too crude, and the only thing really funny about them is that they have the guts to look as trashy as they do telling the disguting jokes they tell.

Ellen, sadly, is about as funny as it gets. As a matter of fact, I was gonna wualify my first statement with a "maybe Ellen D. is a little funny" statement. Good for a laugh or two in a good, long show, but there are SEVERAL male comedians that can, in just a few minutes, make me laugh until it HURTS. Never had that experience with a woman on the stage.

There aren't many really funny female comedians. There only two that I find funny are, Kathy Griffin and Wanda Sykes.

sure she is crude at times.. but her comedy deals with racism and tough Asian Issues

M. Cho is OK. Very gimmicky. She knows her only funny stuff is when she's making fun of her mom. --And so does everyone else. Relying on that little schtick is why her sitcom didn't last more than a couple of weeks.

Margret Cho doesn't seem funny at all to me, and actually seems kind of pathetic IMO. Jeanine Gerafalo or however you spell it, is pretty funny though.

Yea, I don't think I know of a single female comic that I like. Even the ones mentioned to me aren't funny, I don't think Ellen is very funny. Kathy Griffin, I think I laughed once. The only one that I've ever seen, and this was only once, was Janeane Garafolo.

I can't think of someone they would call &quot;famous funny-woman&quot; or some type of descriptor like they do (maybe Ellen) for, like Jim Carrey, Steve Martin, Martin Short, or whomever.

Now that I think about it, Gilda Radner and Lily Tomlin would definitely be called famous funny women. Well, the number is definitely disproportionate

Wanda Sykes Hall is hilarious (at least from a female perspective). Margaret Cho was funny several years ago (anyone remember when she first told the joke about her parents' bookstore - &quot;What is this assmaster?) That's about it for me - Janeane Garafalo was funny about eight or nine years ago and now just seems bitter and whiny, and Ellen DeGeneres always grated on my last nerve. There are a couple of female comedians I've caught on Comedy Central recently that were funny, just not enough for me to remember their names.

If you can handle it, the Queens of Comedy might surprise you. Not having seen the DVD, I wouldn't be surprised if the language and subject matter turned most folks away. I saw one of the Queens, Sommore, when the Def Comedy Jam tour came to Syracuse (of all places!). The house was rockin'g tha night.

Elayne Boozler has been around for quite sometime and she?s pretty funny but nowadays more so behind the scenes writing and producing sitcoms with David Letterman?s WorldWidePants organization than touring. Whoopie Goldberg (how could you forget about the Whoopster????!) is another great comedian, and so is Joan Rivers (when she isn?t doing the Oscars). Kathy Griffin is a hoot! and I enjoy Margaret Cho. Brett Butler is another funny lady. Judy Tenuta with her accordion was ahead of her time, but I haven?t seen her around for awhile. Oh ya? can?t forget to mention multi-award winner Tracey Ullmann and Roseanne and Carol Burnett. I don?t know if the hilarious British import Absolutely Fabulous is on in the States but that show developed a huge cult following in Canada with comedians Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley. Dawn French toured with Jennifer Saunders for ages.

That?s all I can think of right now. Can you tell comedy is always my first television viewing choice?

Whoopi Goldberg's monologue about Ronald Reagan assuming the position behind the American farmers and aircraft controllers is a classic. I ROTFLMAO everytime I see it on the Comedy Channel.

I think that Rita Rudner is hilarious.

Other names that come to mind: Phyllis Diller, Paula Poundstone, Judy Tenuta.

I'm afraid you are making this a sexist argument, because you
are identifying what you feel is not funny about one group
with them being female, instead of trying to figure out what
it is about the comedians you do think of as funny, and comparing
that with the style and delivery of most comedians.

Paula Poundstone is the only funny female comedian I think, the rest just get so old and boring. I also hate that tall one that does the cancer special on comedy central, forgot her name. She does the joke about sleeping with some guy who was crying out &quot;mom&quot; during sex. terrible terrible comedian..
