Just wanted to make a couple of points.

First, there is no rootkit. The SecuROM stuff may be a bit much, but it's not a root kit. Any Article claiming so has already retracted that portion of the statement.

IMHO, the widescreen vs 4:3 is way overblown. I played the game all the way through without knowing this and it did nothing to spoil my enjoyment of the game. In the end they just didn't give widescreen owners what they were used to, but it doesn't make the game any less of a great game.

The game performed amazingly well for me. Granted I don't have a slow system, but my AMD x2 4400+ (939) 8800GTX played the game at max settings and Vsync on at 1980x1200 without a single glitch. Actually, it played smoother than any other game I have played recently. DX10 may be slower than DX9, but I never even had to try DX9 because it played perfectly smooth for me. Just make sure you have the new Beta Vista driver.

As for saving the little sister, I did both. The first time through I saved them, the second time through I harvested. There is, indeed, a different ending for both, though the game still plays out the same way.

***** possible spoiler ahead *****

It's not really a big spoiler, but I don't want take the chance that someone would read it and consider it one.

When you save the little sisters, you get gifts from from them. Rather than get 250 Adam for harvesting, you get 50 each, plus you get a gift of 200 adam and usually a free plasmid or tonic after saving two or three sisters. So, you may not be as adam rich, but you even out in the long run.

Really? I think there's too much. It's depressing having to walk past machine gun canister after machine gun canister cause I'm too full.

In the beginning its really limited. once you get past the medical area,it seems like you get a lot. i am currently full on regular pistol, MG, and shotgun ammo. I don't have much of the other kinds like armor piercing type ammo.

Wow this game is well worth $50, once to get it working without crashes! It feels like your playing in a movie and the music is awesome! I do think they rushed the release date though because there are a lot of issues with the game the first time you install it, which should not have happened. I am glad I got it working though. I didn't realize what I was missing!

How long does it take everyone to load levels ?

A good 30-40 seconds for the initial level load. Quickloads inside the same level are quite snappy, so overall the system isn't too bad.

Has anyone able to get alt tab to work in Bioshock ? It works for me the only problem is I can't go back into full screen mode after pressing alt tab. I must exit the game then start it again.

Works OK for me... the mouse is a little disoriented at first, but I alt-tab out a lot to take a break, check forums, etc.

It comes back already fullscreen... takes about 10 secs or so as Mr. Skyscraper mentioned. Does Alt+Enter not work?

WS support isn't something that you care about. I get that. What I don't understand is why you feel the need to come online and denigrate those who do care.

When I Alt Tab now I can't even get off the game screen. Even if I press Ctrl Alt Del, choose firefox and select bring to front. The game still is there.

Oh well.

if you alt tab, you need to change the screen res back to get full screen. I found out it changes it to 1024x768 when I alt tab out so I just changed it back to 1280x1024.

I don't have to do that, running at 1440x900.

I was able to finish the game on hard without buying any adam upgrades (got all but one of the weapon upgrades though). If you saved the first sister, you can harvest one, and probably only one, and still get the 'good' ending. I tested it with 1 save and 1 harvest. Since I didn't harvest/save any sisters (saved the 1st, which is mandatory) until the last level, I was able to see the other ending by harvesting a couple at the end.

i'm saving the little sisters.

i put my guns in that pneumo thing for the guy at the wharf area and when i got them back, i was missing all my special ammo and i had like 1/3 of my regular ammo.

i haven't had any crashes and i only had slowdown once, when you see the big daddy in action for the 1st time.

Eh? how did I denigrate anyone? I am a widescreen gamer myself, and that is what I'm used to. It simply doesn't impact game play, It wasn't even apparent until I read about it after I played the game.

Most games have been designed for 4:3 then Widescreen is added later, which is usually done by adding more visible area on the sides. In this case they started with widescreen and then had to make 4:3 work, so they did the same thing by adding top and bottom visibility. It's simply not what widescreen gamers are used to.

That really pissed me off about that ammo - all my antipersonnel stuff that I was saving up was gone :| Next time I'll remember to just not collect it 'til after that.

Still getting some crashes - My crashes seem to happen upon approaching certain objects - could be an EVE hypo, a lockbox, a door... getting a CTD approaching a certain door in Medical now. Thankfully it isn't game breaking.

I wish I could try the fix that pcslookout linked to, but I'm on XP.

Grrr... that happened to me too. I was overflowing with all types of ammo, then when I got my stuff back, poof...

Maybe you can answer a simple question for me: I just got to the mall, and noticed I only had 4 of 8 "elevator" slots filled, are there really 8 "levels" or are some just left blank? Cause if there are 8, this is one long game given the "standard" of today...

Oh, and still no crashes. Very stable except at the 6 hour mark, it starts to "freeze" and resume again once in a while when manipulating objects.

When I finished the game, only 7 slots were filled. The last one was blank. Don't know why that is, whether they had planned for 8, or just wanted to make the layout a symmetrical 4x2.

Some levels have two parts, with an airlock type chamber in-between, the second usually being somewhat smaller than the main bathysphere level. Arcadia has one, as does Olympus and the 7th level. The level attached to #7 has no bathysphere exit, so it can't really count as its own level.

Hmm, why didn't I think of that

Anyway, I tried it, still crashes at that door. I got through it one time, and crashed in the hallway.
