Just wanted to make a couple of points.
First, there is no rootkit. The SecuROM stuff may be a bit much, but it's not a root kit. Any Article claiming so has already retracted that portion of the statement.
IMHO, the widescreen vs 4:3 is way overblown. I played the game all the way through without knowing this and it did nothing to spoil my enjoyment of the game. In the end they just didn't give widescreen owners what they were used to, but it doesn't make the game any less of a great game.
The game performed amazingly well for me. Granted I don't have a slow system, but my AMD x2 4400+ (939) 8800GTX played the game at max settings and Vsync on at 1980x1200 without a single glitch. Actually, it played smoother than any other game I have played recently. DX10 may be slower than DX9, but I never even had to try DX9 because it played perfectly smooth for me. Just make sure you have the new Beta Vista driver.
As for saving the little sister, I did both. The first time through I saved them, the second time through I harvested. There is, indeed, a different ending for both, though the game still plays out the same way.
***** possible spoiler ahead *****
It's not really a big spoiler, but I don't want take the chance that someone would read it and consider it one.
When you save the little sisters, you get gifts from from them. Rather than get 250 Adam for harvesting, you get 50 each, plus you get a gift of 200 adam and usually a free plasmid or tonic after saving two or three sisters. So, you may not be as adam rich, but you even out in the long run.
