So this is worth purchasing now? or still not?
In my opinion, it is. But it's not a game for everyone nonetheless. And that means that regardless of how much the developers work on it for the coming ten years some people out there would never be able to enjoy it, and that's fine. It's really just not a game for everyone, it's very much a 'love it or hate it' kind of game with very little to no middle ground. I find it to be a very relaxing game (at least in Normal mode) and I enjoy it because of that mostly. I myself don't have very long sessions but I do play it fairly regularly.
And for me, so far, what remains fun in this game is still to land for the first time on a new planet, unable to predict what the terrain will look like and what kind of planet it will be generally (barren? full of life? no water? desert? super hot or cold? very toxic? highly radioactive? low sentinels presence? etc). Just looking at the scenery as I step out of my ship and scanning the first couple of things around that nobody playing this game has seen yet the exact same way since there's no two completely identical combinations of assets in the entire generated galaxy of the game.
So essentially, the 'mystery', the unknown and the unseen or undiscovered is what entertains me the most in this game, even if usually it does get a bit dull if I play it for too long in one session. So I play it in short bursts of around one or two hours max every once in a while, maybe twice a week and it's plenty for me that way (even with the new patch, I keep the same pacing).
