My PC is connected to a 55" TV with a 7.1 surround system and two theater seats. I suppose I'm not one of those "some."
well, obviously.

If you have a PC that can run it, what advantage can a PS4 offer?
some people still keep their PC and consoles differentiated from office/desk setting and living room/Giant TV/couch setting.
This is the type of game that seems like glorious giant TV/couch/gamepad laziness to me.

It's open world, there are battles and fights you can get into. It's a bit of everything and the point of the game is to play it to find the point of it lol, more so reach the center of the universe. So, coming from someone who hasn't been following this game very closely (I steer clear of highly anticipated games so I won't get drawn into the hype), what kind of game is this? I've watched the (alpha?) trailer then the newest that was just put up and so far I haven't seen any footage other than some first person wandering around who seemingly has noclip enabled. No action from what I've seen.
So... space battles? Ship battles? FPS? Survival sim? Melee/crafting-oriented game? Can someone fill me in here?
There is no goal you are free to do what you want. For me in a game that kind of gets boring so thats why I'm waiting it out to see gameplay videos from users.Or in my case, I hope it is my anti-game, where I can just explore the algorithmically generated universe whenever I please without a goal beyond that.

Lol I'll check some of them out when I get a chance. Did they already take down the one where he starts off from the beginning? Looks shockingly familiar to destiny, the ui at least and the landscape of the planets.the vids of the gameplay are up on porn hub of all places and arent being taken down

To me its not worth the $66CAD price tag, same as Elite Dangerous, I'm sure the development costs make the price justifiable but to me there doesn't seem to be enough meat there to justify more than spending $20.
See and to me, that's a huge problem that too many gamers have nowadays which is why we get games that are huge but with tons of filler, aka crappy side quests. I'd rather have a game that is shorter but awesome than a game that is huge but is filled with tons of bad filler quests just to make it larger. Of course for many people, they don't like exploring so this may not be theirs cup of tea but this definitely looks like it has a ton of content. To me its not worth the $66CAD price tag, same as Elite Dangerous, I'm sure the development costs make the price justifiable but to me there doesn't seem to be enough meat there to justify more than spending $20.

Yea and that's the biggest thing that can hurt this game. Even if it's only just an ok game, it's been hyped for two years so many people are expecting perfection and a game this huge, I just don't know. But I don't mind a game I can just relax and play.I admit I haven't really kept up with the media releases for this game, maybe I'm wrong, but this game in particular has way to much media hype surrounding it. I roll my eyes every time I hear developers talk about huge, varied, X number of things to do, advanced algorithms, only for the game turn out to be lifeless and soulless.
I would love for this to be the great space sandbox simulator, I did like Freelancer for its single player story and trading aspects so anything set in space is going to get my attention.

that the various upgrades for your ships are there mostly for aesthetics, and that the "dangers" you'll encounter on planets will mostly consist of rather simple environmental-based hazards.
