AMD looks to have dropped the ball for 1H of 2015 for GE. NV is getting MGS V, Batman AK, Project CARS, Witcher 3. AMD is falling asleep at the wheel since not only are they 1 generation behind in GPU architecture, but all these GW titles have a strong shot at crippling AMD gaming performance/or heavily favoring NV (as we've seen with MGS already). Furthermore, without a strong game bundle and lack of discounts on 290 cards, they will be dead in the water. Without a solid game bundle, imo AMD needs to drop 290 to $239 MSRP and 290X to $269. I mean if AMD knew they wouldn't release 300 series for 1.5 years since 290X's launch, they should have released a 10-15% refresh as a stop-gap. Now it doesn't look like 300 series is even close to launch.

Space bundle hasn't ended; its they've ran out. They will have more shortly; same message game up at OCUK store when they sold out also.

They just need to get more stock in.

The promo isn't supposed to end until January 31st, 2015. I think they just ran out of codes and need to replenish. At least I hope so, that is a major bonus for those cards.

I think thats not correct. what do you mean by 1 generation. 12 months or 24 months. Either way with a rumoured Feb/Mar 2015 release for Fiji XT, AMD are 5 - 6 months behind. thats in no way a generation. such misalignment of GPU launches has happened in the past too with Nvidia GTX 480 (6 months) and GTX 680 (2.5 Months ) behind the HD 5870 and HD 7970 respectively.

As for MGS performance as we have seen in the past with Gameworks titles AMD takes 2 - 3 weeks to get performance drivers, but they do eventually get it out. sometimes its also the developer who makes the performance improvements to happen. AC Unity is a good example where the game patch 1.3 made a huge difference to GCN graphics cards (and Nvidia/Intel) performance and patch 1.4 is rumoured to bring even more performance.

You want AMD to reduce prices on R9 290X / R9 290 when their performance in recent games has been very good and that has even affected the avg perf gap with GTX 980. R9 290X is now faster than GTX 970, stock for stock at 1440p.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_970_Gaming/27.html

It requires a factory OC 970 to match a stock R9 290X at 1440p and that is only if you consider as an avg which includes older games. In the latest games like Shadow of Mordor, DAI, Farcry 4, Ryse, Civilization Beyond Earth etc. the R9 290X is busy competing with GTX 980. we regularly see R9 290X cards like MSI R9 290X Lightning (1080 Mhz) at USD 350 (320 after rebate) at newegg. Those are fabulous prices.

btw the game coupons go out of stock and come back in stock at retailers. but the never settle space edition game bundle offer is still on. you have to wait for the retailers to get the next batch of coupons.

I redeemed the offer on Tuesday, so they probably just ran out of the reward cards with the scratch out code on the back.

BTW, would anyone like the code for Civilization Beyond Earth? I already got the game so I have the code laying around.

I think the 3 free games were a big selling point of the R9 200 series. I had a 290x that I was going to give as a Christmas present in my shopping cart for an hour or so last night and then noticed the free games were gone right before I was going to click to place the order. With the binned version of the EVGA GTX 970 down from $350 to $330 and coming with Far Cry 4 I think I'm going to instead gift my lightly used Twin Frozr R9 290 and buy the 970 for myself. I don't use PirateBay so the bundled games matter to me.

Did they ran out of Civilization voucher too?

Hopefully that's just temporary. It's a huge value. I bought a Sapphire tri-x 290 for $200 AR with all those games included. I got $70 out of selling all the codes after fees. That's 35% off an already fantastic deal. I almost feel guilty considering how much people were paying earlier this year.

Who cares if you get some Triple A titles. It's a graphics card. Honestly man.

And in some cases it screws up the return policy. A lot of the super negative AMD posts on Newegg are pointing out that they can't get a full refund for the card if it's broken because the games are considered additional costs. For example, suppose you spend $500 on some card and it comes with some games. If the card screws up, you can only get a refund for $350. The other $150 went into those "free games". You were basically paying full price for them.

The people who just buy the card without a game never have that problem.

I thought that's what the mail-in rebates were designed for; so that you had to cut out and ship in the UPC within a few days of getting the card, making it unreturnable.

My Asus R9 270X didn't have any game codes, don't know why, and I didn't care. My cousins sapphire R9 270X, had a battlefield 4 code. Honestly, it's overrated. You can get cheap AAA titles from www.cdkeyhouse.com etc anyway.

Why is there always this silly negativity around AMD in here? You can get a 290X that offers 90% of the performance of Nvidia's flagship 980 for usually 200 dollars less. Most people would consider than insanely good value. Some how Nvidia hasn't managed to cripple AMD's performance, as you put it, in the past 3 years.

Up until recently, AMD's Never Settle bundle has given out multiple games, while Nvidia cards had nothing at all. In the past, when the Never Settle bundle's start to 'run out', its because they're getting ready to refresh them.

On the Gameworks titles, the only one listed that will have any impact on the PC is Witcher 3. The others, B:AK, MGS5, CARS, those are all console focused titles, where it would be utterly stupid of their developers to focus on Nvidia proprietary features when the XB1 and PS4 are using AMD hardware. Previously released Gameworks enabled titles have all fallen flat or been so buggy at release that they could rightly be called unplayable. At this time, Gameworks should not factor into any purchasing decision. An argument could be made that GW would count against buying the game or card, if one doesn't want to lock themselves into proprietary things.

And the 300 series cards, as far as anyone can reliably say, are still slated for 1Q15. So calm down, and stop spouting the fan boyism. You'll get the Fiji and Bermuda cards in a couple months.
