The biggest complaint about the game is the employment minigames you need to endure between fights, but I loved No More Heroes for its action and absolute style. And especially for its ludicrous plot.

I'm really looking forward to the sequel.

I thought it was a really poor game. I was a bit excited for it, because it was supposed to be original and innovative, but I thought it was pretty trashy.

The world map was SO horrible, and I didn't find the combat interesting at all. I got through 4 or 5 assassinations before giving up on it. I was really disappointed in it.

I really enjoyed No More Heroes. It's been almost 2 years so I hope you dont mind if I point you to the podcast we recorded and chatted about it. Its probably somewhere in the second half since we tend to put the game impression stuff there.

It can be found here:

What I do remember about it is the boss fights--they're fun, memorable, well designed and overall hilarious. This game has more character (in terms of personality) and wackiness than most. Yes, it has its faults, but I think they're easy to look past.

I've had No More Heroes for a while but haven't even opened it yet. Maybe someday I'll get around to playing it.

The reality is I almost never use the Wii but I continue to lie to myself and buy games for it. At least I've been playing a decent amount of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

I really enjoyed No More Heroes when i first played it. Tons of style, That Suda51 touch that no other games has yet to really come close to.

Gameplay was above average at its highs, and tolerable at its lows. Fortunately (for me) the lows were infrequent enough that my overall enjoyment of the game lasted through the end, and left me wanting a sequel.

Curses, I thought that this was a thread about the TV show Heroes being canceled posted in the wrong forum. I guess one can only dream

I really enjoyed no more heroes. The world map was bad, yes, but you didn't have to be in it that long.

I thought the story was pretty well done given it's ridiculous nature, and the motion controls used pretty well. I am anxiously awaiting No More Heroes 2, which apparently has crept up on me and out next week!

Wow! I'm not sure if I'm alone here, but I did you know that No More Heroes 2 comes out next week?

So did anyone get the new one, and how is it? I enjoyed the first no more heroes but it certainly had its flaws.

I thought NMH2 was disappointing. The graphics were undeniably better, but the bosses barely had time to jump on the screen before you killed them, compared to the long-winded monologues of the first game (which I liked); they're almost all named like normal people instead of the cool assassin names of the first game, like Destroyman or Dark Star. The first game felt epic at times, this one felt... abreviated. The cut out the grind of the assassination missions in the first game in favor of retro 8-bit games that are purely optional, but some of them are too difficult (like the game to upgrade Travi's strength... the last level is impossible to pass). You can buy clothes, but there are only two light sabers to buy and no upgrades, so there's nothing really worth spending money on. Fights in general are harder, blocking doesn't work as well as before, and the chainsaw enemies are annoying. Cut scenes are nowhere near as insane as the first game, so it feels like Suda 51 was phoning it in a bit. The game isn't completely worthless, but it's definetly not worth $50, more like $15-20. I can't see myself replaying the game, though I'm still intending to replay the first game at some point.

That's disappointing to hear.

I just got NMH1 last night and gave it a go. What the hell did I just play?! lol, I love it. What a crazy messed up game. I'm still a little unsure on the fighting (with the blocking and block interrupting) but this game looks pretty awesome.
