These antiporn groups crack me up. If I heard one of them was taking pictures of people coming out a porn store I'd go buy something like edible panties for the wife and let them take all the pictures they want. I'd even give them the addresses of my family and ask if they could get my picture in their newsletter.

If you want to really piss them off, find out where and when their meeting is and have a bunch of people protest them.

Wow, I think I will go get a job with the Utah government. Specifically, in the "determining which internet sites contain porno material" office

I guess that means they'll have to start blocking search engines.

I wonder what would happen if you put in a request to get blocked some utah state goverment site?

Quick block, governor.utah.gov. These guys are having bad thoughts.

lenny: "That makes it 10-trillionth overall."

No way it'll stick.

...oh and a big FU to those of you bagging on my state. :|

Someone needs to lock these anti porn activists in a room, chain them to a chair, tape their eyes open, and force them to watch 30-40 hours of porn, a la A Clockwork Orange

You do know the high courts will laughing as this is being shot down, right?

Are you comfortable with the gov't deciding what you can and can't view in your own privacy? Are you comfortable with them deciding what you can or can't view, period?

So can a parent send the ISP a letter saying "I don't want to receive porn" and the ISP uses an updated list of porn sites, or what? Where is this list stored? Who updates it? If there is no list, does the subscriber have to send a list of all the URLs it wants blocked?

It was one state, and the consumers decide if they want to watch it or not.

The measure, SB 260, says: "Upon request by a consumer, a service provider may not transmit material from a content provider site listed on the adult content registry." A service provider is defined as any person or company who "provides an Internet access service to a consumer," which could include everything from cable companies to universities, coffeeshops, and homes with open 802.11 wireless connections.
